A: I think the main advantages of these protective wraps are 1) the inside (against your gear) is a soft felt-like material which protects the surface finish of my gear; 2) the outside cover is durable and the color coding is helpful when switching between several similar sized / shaped pieces of gear (lenses, bodies, etc) ;3) the hook and loop (velcro) fasteners keep the covers in place without the need to use rubber bands or tape to keep them in place; 4) when not in use they fold up into each other fairly flat so I can keep them handy and together; 5) the 19 x 19 size wraps a 70-200 /f2.8L lens with the tripod mount collar and the lens hood on reversed and by the time its wrapped there are several layers of material surrounding the lens.
