A: Page 34 in the manual for this model states: "Your player has a region code printed on the rear of the unit and will only play BD-ROMs/ DVD-ROMs labeled with identical region codes" -- This means that the BDP-S1700E is a multi-region model that will play Blu-ray: A, B, C, DVD: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

A: I would recommend to skip any firmware updates unless it stops working.

A: No. This device does not offer a Wi-Fi connect feature. To connect to the internet it must be connected via a LAN cable (Cat 5e).

[NTSC/PAL/SECAM] Great little blu-ray disc player for the price only thing is no wireless, but very easy to set up my Netgear wireless adapter with the ethernet connect and usb port for power. Would recommend this if you want a decent blu-ray player for a low price. 5

[NTSC/PAL/SECAM] Bought this to replace a Sony BluRay player that I got Black Friday 2009. I watch many DVDs from my local library and this Sony works great. I stream through my TV or PC so I can't speak to the streaming feature of this playeer. I also recently bought a Sony DVD player from WallyMart that works but the menu is severely dated. I seached the web for the best price and B&H won hands down. Shipping was free and on time. 5

[Yes] I purchased the BDP-S1700 Blu-ray Disc Player to regain the ability to play DVD discs in my personal library. Connection to my Sony television was easy and it integrates very, very well from an operational standpoint (auto switching to correct input). It's a great unit and takes no time to learn. 5
