The BDP-S1700E is compatible with many file and audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio for dynamic surround. The USB port supports peripherals such as thumb drives for easy playback of a variety of file types.

A: I havent used mine in a while bc I stream most everything now. I actually believe the subtitle option is in the movie not the player. If the movie doesnt offer subtitles then u wont have them, to my knowledge. Maybe the players Specifications would be more helpful. If u are talking about subtitles in apps on the player, I believe u have to go into that app, such as Netflix, and turn on subtitles in their settings. Im not sure bc I have Apple TV and dont use my player for streaming with apps. If this doesnt help u should Google the question more specifically as to what u actually need to be doing. Sorry, hope this is a lil helpful!

[Yes] Bought this to replace a Sony BluRay player that I got Black Friday 2009. I watch many DVDs from my local library and this Sony works great. I stream through my TV or PC so I can't speak to the streaming feature of this playeer. I also recently bought a Sony DVD player from WallyMart that works but the menu is severely dated. I seached the web for the best price and B&H won hands down. Shipping was free and on time. 5
