The Broncolor Siros 400 L Outdoor Kit 2-Light Battery-Poweredis the latest in the Siros series of monolights. Powered by a Li-ion battery, the flash head gets up to 440 full-power flashes on a 70-minute charge. The modeling light is a 25W LED to conserve battery power.

Speed is central to the design of the Siros L. Recycling is a lightning fast 0.03 to 1.2 seconds, while normal t0.5 flash duration is as short as 1/11300 sec. There's also a Speed Mode that bypasses the Siros L's Enhanced Color Temperature Control to prioritize short flash durations and fast recycle speeds. The result is a flash duration of 1/19,000 at minimum power: fast enough to freeze water droplets and other stop action effects. The Siros L has a 9-stop variable power range from full power all the way down to 2 Ws. While at higher settings it's possible to out-flash the sun, lower settings allow use of even the widest apertures for your desired effect. All functions are available on the simple, intuitive panel via an ergonomic rotary controller, but you also have access to the menus and controls of up to 6 units using your tablet or smartphone and the free bronControl app.

The Siros 400 L features Broncolor HS for syncing at shutter speeds up to 1/8,000s. Broncolor HS requires an RFS2.2 transmitter, available for Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras. Existing Siros owners should ensure that their lights have the latest user-upgradable firmware, available online at www.bron.ch/sirosfirmwareupdate/.

A single fully-charged lithium-ion battery stores enough energy for a Siros 400 L to flash more than 440 times, and it does that at maximum power.

In only 0.03 seconds, your Siros L is ready again. The flash duration can as fast as 1/9000 sec (t 0.1) or 1/19000 sec (t 0.5).

Flash duration and light output are the two decisive factors in light control. A microprocessor in Siros L will calculate the shortest flash duration for a given energy setting.

In Speed Mode, fast charging and short flash times have absolute priority. In this case, the calculation of constant color temperature (ECTC) is suppressed for quick results.

Very simple operation using the single rotary controller. Alternatively, you can use the advanced, intuitive app.

The high light output leaves no photographer standing in the dark. It can even challenge sunshine. And with a control range of 9 stops, you can still use wide-open apertures when needed.

With its low power consumption, the 25-watt LED module provides bright modeling light at a color temperature of 3200K. The light characteristics are absolutely comparable with the modeling light from a mains-operated Siros S.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do I meter the power output in HS mode? Do I need a special light meter or a regular flash meter will work?

A: Some third-party meters (e.g. Sekonic) offer the ability to meter in HS mode however we have not tested these units.

Q: 2. what's diameter size?It can fit 7 honeycomb grid ??

A: I was interested to check on this since I have about a dozen standard (I think Speedotron) grids in the studio and I didn't really want to spend the money for the Bron grids. Turns out those standard grids fit and stay in place if I bend the spring outward and extra 1/2 inch. The opening of the L40 is about 6 & 7/8th inches (75mm). My standard' grids are about 6 & 5/8th (68mm) depending on how round they are after years of use. I have used them in Speedo, Hensel and Profoto grid reflectors. So they are a little small, but bending the spring outward a bit does the trick. If I was pointing the head down, I'd put a piece of gaffers tape on it for extra security.

Q: 3. do the stands include in this kit?

A: No stands, I was disappointed when mine arrived, the lights are amazing, but its bad it advertises stands in the photo

Q: 4. Is this enough to light a 120 x 180 cm Softbox?

A: Yes. More than enough power to illuminate a 120x180 cm.

Q: 5. Can this kit work in the studio with the power outlet instead of using the battery? And is there going to be an education price for this kit soon or later?

A: Unfortunately, this monolight system is only for use with a battery and cannot be plugged into AC power. As for student pricing, that would normally be posted on our EDU Advantage home page as the pricing becomes available. It would be best to check back to that page periodically for updates. http://bhpho.to/11A01z5

Q: 6. It is possible to use connected to the grid?

A: It is possible to use grids with this monolight with the help of the Broncolor Standard Reflector for Siros and Siros L Monolights B&H # BRRL40 and the grid set for it which is the Broncolor Honeycomb 3 Grid Set for L40 Reflector B&H # BRGS3L40. Please see the images below for reference.

Q: 7. Hey is this specific light good foR starters?

A: The Broncolor Siros 400s is a very good strobe. It is not a beginner strobe but is good for beginner to professional use.

Q: 8. Can I connect a PocketWizard to this?

A: Yes. The Siros L has a sync port which can be triggered by a plugged in receiver.

Q: 9. What mount does this strobe use?

A: This strobes utilizes the Broncolor Pulso mount, which will fit the current line up of Broncolor modifiers.

Q: 10. Does this strobe have TTL?

A: No, just High speed sync with Optional Transmitter

[4] These lights are amazing! They are heavy, but the power, speed and color accuracy is pure perfection. The ability for High speed sync is important to me, and the app gives great control and extra modes that you just don't get with cheaper lights.

They are expensive, but well worth it. The craftsmanship is great, and the padded bag is beautiful and well designed with quality in mind. The included umbrella and soft box are small and portable, but I do prefer larger modifiers most times. If you can afford it and do a lot of on location shoots. .

These babies can turn day into night, and compete with the sun behind your subject. I highly recommend them and B&H! My first set came damaged, but B&H quickly replaced it.

[1x Reflector] First and foremost, if you’re looking for the best. Look no further. Broncolor hands down. 2x 400 watts is more than enough to take over the sun here in sunny South Florida. And I shoot with 5D Mark IV and EOS R.
I originally was using duo Profoto B10’s. But they just do not compare. The bronControl app is amazing. The Siros lights come with a usb to enable you to update their firmware. When doing film or LARGE SCALE creative photography I use both broncolor and Profoto. I attach the Profoto trigger right on top of the RFS 2.2 and it’s just INCREDIBLE.

What I’m upset with is, this set is costly no matter who the photographer is. When it comes to me. I expect it to look like the money I spent. When I went to pick up the set from my local fedex office. They were complaining and I agree and see why. The box looked like garbage. Literally. I’m surprised the units weren’t broken and thank goodness they weren’t because I could’ve missed out on a magnificent product. B&H HANDLE THINGS WITH CARE. PLEASE.

[Audio & Visual] I did a lot of research on my first monolight/strobe and it came down to Broncolor and Profoto. It was a hard choice, partially because I shoot Olympus and Bron does not make a transceiver for Olympus cameras and Profoto does. I also have a background in different types of design and engineering work and I love me a solid/beautifully made product.

In the end I chose to go with the Siros 800 L and its absolutely amazing. Due to not having a compatible transceiver I successfully have it working perfectly with PocketWizard (FlexTT5 and PlusIII), even with HS at 1/8000! The Broncolor iOS app is a big help too!

Looking back if I were to do anything differently, I wish I wouldve opted for the two light kit since Im now thinking of getting a 2nd strobe and the kit is a great deal with the extras it includes.

If you are considering the Siros for studio or location work, do it!

Lastly, I thought about the Siros 400 L as well but the few hundred dollars and slightly smaller body wasnt worth it for me. Ill take the extra power.

[5500K] Perfect monolight strobe, compact, constant colors at all times, 9 f-stops, very intuitive to use, from 1/1000 (800 J) to 1/19000 s (3 J). I have two 800s and one 400s + an external DC/AC battery for outdoor shooting. Considering my needs (studio + outdoor shooting), it is a far much better versatile combinaison and reasonably priced choice than to having one Move 1200 with only 2 heads (as far you do not need 1200 J on one head or need something very compact-packed). And there is no compromission with the global performance.

[15.5 lb] This is a great light and has more than enough power. I just wish it was smaller and that it came with a seconded battery.

[1x Monolight] By far the best light Ive worked with (compared to Hensel and Profoto). The light quality and consistency is unmatchable.
The only downside to Broncolor is the way you attached the modifiers, however thats something you get used to pretty quick.
