The Broncolor Edge Mask Softbox 90x120cm (35.4x47.2")from Broncolor Edge Mask Softbox 90x120cm (35.4x47.2")is a quick and easy way to edgelight a subject and separate it from the background. The mask blacks out most of the softbox leaving a thin strip of the translucent softbox front face on all sides to light the subject.

Q: 1. Could someone be so kind to tell me the measures of the black fabric (ideally in cm)? Also does B&H have this kind of fabric? I do not have broncolor mount and would love to do something DIY... thank you!

A: The inner mask area is approx. 90x150cm, with a 15cm border on each side which allows light to pass through. The material is an opque double-layered non-reflective black fabric.

Q: 2. what accessories are available for this; sock, grid, black or white diffusion?

A: Broncolor does produce a 40 degree grid for this item which is the Broncolor Light Grid 40-Degree for Beautybox 65 Softbox B&H # BRLGBB65.

A: 55cm

A: Yes you can use with your Siros L

A: Yes, but you must purchase the Broncolor adaptor for profotowhich is part # B-33.401.01 B&H Photo part # BRSRP

Q: 6. Do you have access to the area in front of the lamp through the back of the softbox to add a gel for example or only access through the front of the softbox?

A: It is very small to reach in from the back of the Broncolor Softbox (3.9 x 1'). Best is to add gels and such from the front by pulling the front diffuser off.

Q: 7. Can this be used with Dynalites and does it accept a grid?

A: Yes, that can work with Dynalite flashes.There are many speedrings that will work. This is one, Impact Speed Ring for Dynalite and Lowel Omni-lights, B&H # IMSRDYN MFR # SR-DYN.

Q: 8. Beautybox 65 vs Octabox 75? I read if you add the outer diffuser to the Beautybox it should be similar to the Octa, so basically 2-in-1?

A: With outer-diffusion (included) attached, the result of beautybox 65 can produce a similar result though the even-ness of the light will be less than the Octabox 75. Similarly so, the Octabox 75 is slightly more efficient in light due to its silver interior.

Q: 9. Is the interior surface white or reflective?

A: The interior of the softbox is a pebbled silver.

Q: 10. Which speedring do I need to fit this Broncolor Beautybox to a Dynalite Baja B4?

A: The Broncolor Speedring for Bowens Flash Systems B&H # BRSRBQ will fit the Dynalite Baja B4. Please see the image below for reference.

[0.5 lb] This edge mask is such an amazing idea! and with excellent results as well. You can do some pretty cool shots with just this one modifier and single monolight, or have it act as both your rim and hair light in one! Oh, and it provides you with a black background as well. Love this! amazing quality as with any other Bron modifier. 5

[0.5 lb] This softbox was included with my Siros light kit. It is made well. The best thing regarding this softbox is how easy and quick it is to set up. No having to flex the rods or risk overstretching the panels or tearing the seams, snap tabs like select other brands of modifiers. I also like the optional light grid not offered with other softboxes. 5

[0.5 lb] Seriously amazing modifier and broncolor quality. Love this. Yeah it's pricey, especially for amateur but if you're pro, this single modifier saves your time and light too. I actually bought this for $94 here while it was on sale. Together with 120x180 softbox(also discounted). 5

[0.5 lb] I was creating the same effect using a 24x36 black flag behind my subject but the alignment was fussy and took some time to set up. This mask makes the back - edge light effect work effortlessly in portrait or landscape orientation. I did steam the black fabric to reduce the winkles which were sometimes visible when the subject was close to the mask and if the aperture was closed down some. After steaming out the wrinkles during the first use, I rolled the mask around a large diameter cardboard tube for transport and storage to keep the wrinkles down. Easy and effective. Such a beautiful result - especially for subjects with long dark hair that might disappear against a dark background. 5
