[1.57 lb] Purchased this to add a wireless 3.5mm mic to a PTZ camera that outputs video through HDMI. The camera has a 3.5mm audio in, but sounded like garbage. This fixed that.


If anyone is wondering: I did PTZ HDMI to the KanexPro, Wireless mic to the 3.5mm Line In, HDMI from the KanexPro to a deck recorder.


This embeds the audio to HMDI without any lip-sync issues that I've noticed. Sounds decent for the price. Will be running this on a 24/7 PTZ camera. Hopefully it holds up.

[4:2:2 / 4:4:4] I've not had any issues with this product - it does its job well with no fuss. It's also very well made, including the connectors. I was unsure if it would totally strip the audio from the SDI feed (so that there was no audio on the looped output) but this is not the case. The output is 'untouched' and includes audio.

[8.25 x 6 x 3.1"] Since I got my recent computer in 2013, I've been trying to get an output to my TV using the normal composite output, which the video card sadly doesn't have. (Although S-Video is an option for my TV as well, it sometimes doesn't detect it properly.) After having tried 3 other VGA to composite scan converters, I thought I would try this Gefen scaler and use the HDMI output on my video card. And it seems I made the right choice at last! While the previous scan converters suffered with a somewhat stuttery PAL output, the Gefen scaler isn't really all that bad at it. It is a little bit stuttery here and there, but nothing to get in a fuss about. When I watched a TV show using it, it wasn't noticeable at all. The image quality is pretty fine, and like it promised, it gives you a choice of resolutions. You'd probably want to stick to about 1024 768 pixels to read stuff from your computer, or otherwise it gets too tiny for your television. I tried both the S-Video and composite outputs, and they were both very good. I also tried it with my XBOX 360, and it worked fine with that too. The underscan setting is just right for my TV, if you want to get the whole image on your screen without anything cropped. It was nice to see that the power supply works from 100 to 240 V, and it also came with a set of Australian style pins, which I was happy to use! (It also had USA, British and possibly European ones too.) The metal case seems rugged and the screw in style HDMI plug is a good idea to keep it from being pulled out. All in all, it seems very well made, and it looks pretty nice as well.

[8.25 x 6 x 3.1"] Works great for us. Using the SlingStudio HDMI out to this and converting to RCA to output for our campus TV system.

[Mini-USB x 1] This device is exactly device that we needed and fulfill our needs. We are using this device in our training room where we have presentation system and signal is remotely supplied to projector by HDMI, we just needed to extract audio that we be synchronized with video.
Recommend to everyone.

[DIP Switch] I use it to convert any hdmi signal to analog to edit with vhs editing machines.

[12 VDC] Works like a charm decoding recent Dolby signals for my pre-HDMI Bose Lifestyle 18. Working with Roku and XBox Series X. I had a signal splitter to take the audio from the HDMI to optical on Bose but Bose kept crashing on current Dolby regardless of audio settings on whatever I plugged in.

[CE, FCC] Converts and scales images great.� I've already recommended to a friend and I may buy another soon.

[1.57 lb] I'm using this with a data Video switcher and two Atomos recorders.

[8.25 x 6 x 3.1"] I bought this for a church. Our services are considered mission critical. Our live stream is very important to us, we don't want to have any down time or lack of quality. That is why we bought this product. We have used datavideo before and they have lasted us a long time.


A few things to know:
1. The power adaptor cable is not the most robust. It does have a screw on type connector, but it isn't the strongest. I accidentally dropped the unit and bent the power connected where it screws onto the device. I tried to bend it back in place and it broke off completely. Not cool. Luckily I have some other datavideo equipment around and was able to connect another power supply while a new one comes in the mail.


2. The device has male mini XLR connectors. If you're from the audio world (like me) you know this is backwards. You can easily find male mini XLR to female XLR. But it is harder to find the opposite. What it doesn't say on this website (BHphoto), is what's in the box. Funny, it doesn't even say on the datavideo website. When I ordered the product I ordered separate cables too. BUT, I didn't need to. In the box with the datavideo product they give you two mini XLR female to XLR female cables. How nice of them! But I wish I woulda known.


3. When you connect audio to this device it will show you nothing. No signs of life. It has audio meters, but nothing will appear. I was frustrated, knowing I was sending audio but not seeing the meter move. Finally I thought, let me connect the SDI cable. Still nothing. Then I turned on my switcher. Nothing. Then I turned on the camera and made sure I was sending a signal. When the device saw the signal it turned on and showed me audio levels.
Lesson: Send a signal over SDI so the device turns on and you can see and test audio meters.


A little more info would have been nice, but we got it working.


It is a sturdy little device. I hope it lasts me a long time.
