The f-stops click, but the T-stops are smooth. At T8, you won't see any real change in the final aperture above about f4. At T3.2, all f stops are useful and the final aperture changes as it clicks through the f-stops. In summary, the T and f stops both allow you to control the final aperture, but it does not magically disconnect bokeh and light transmission.
