Create a wonderful event printing station or photo booth with the upgraded DNP DS-RX1HS Dye Sublimation Printerfrom DNP. Capable of delivering 290 4 x 6" photos in an hour, this is an ideal option for high-volume printing scenarios. The dye sublimation thermal transfer method enables these high speeds while also permitting a high resolution of 300 x 600 dpi. Also, the full color ribbons feature an overcoat to keep images protected and allow for selection of either glossy or matte finishes, without having to change the media. It can produce 4 x 6" or 6 x 8" prints, 5 x 7" prints, as well as 2 x 6" in 2-up or 4-up configurations. Additionally, it has USB 2.0 connectivity and support for USB iSerial.

A: No. It is the printer only. The media (ribbon/paper combo) is purchased separately.

Q: 2. can i print 2x8 prints on this?

A: You can print 4-up 2x6 on the 6x8 print media, but it does not cut 2x8 strips on the 6x8 print media.

Q: 3. Are there any limitations using this printer on a Mac?

Q: 4. Does this use special paper. If so, is it like the Cannon selphy printer paper?

A: Yes you would need to purchase dedicated media (ribbon and paper in rolls) for this printer. It is sold together and we list it under accessories.

Q: 5. Can you insert a sd card in it

A: No. Currently they do not come with a usb or SD card port

Q: 6. Can this printer create four 4x6 photos on an 8x12 media roll? I know I would have to cut after printing.

A: No, the closest you would be able to get is a 4x8" print.

Q: 7. can I connect straight to my camera?

A: The output is a usb I connect printer to my computers usb and connect the camera to my computer

Q: 8. can this printer print 81/2x11 paper?

A: No, 4x6 or 5x7 (uses different paper supply)

Q: 9. How easily do the pictures fade if left in sunlight?

A: DNP has tested it up to 10 years, your results may vary depending on other environmental factors.

Q: 10. Can this printer connect to a Mac?

A: Yes, we have been using it connected to a Mac laptop. There is a Mac printer driver on the drivers download page.

[300 x 600 dpi] With recent increases in prices for holiday cards, why not buy a dye sub printer with a mere 2 year payback period instead? 5x7 prints fit nicely in an envelope and now I can print out all my vacation photos on a whim. Media prices for this printer put it on a par with ordering out for prints, but with the difference you can spot errors and fix them immediately. 5

[Print] We have an Olympus P-400 and P-440 (now acting as doorstops) that we WOULD have used until they wore out, but Olympus discontinued the media for them years ago (still holding onto a resentment for that one). Sort of ignored the market the past few years, but then discovered the DS820A. It turns out an excellent quality print and is FAST! And a change of finish doesn't involve changing the ribbon. I would say that DNP has achieved dye-sub perfection. 5
