The CyberPower PR5000LCDRTXL5U Smart App Sinewave UPS (5000VA / 4000W) features an LCD panel, offers a sine wave output, and is active-PFC-compatible for safeguarding mission-critical servers, telecom equipment and VoIP, and inter-networking hardware that requires seamless sine wave power. It incorporates microprocessor-based digital control and includes PowerPanel Business edition software. The UPS system is ENERGY STAR qualified with GreenPower UPS Bypass circuitry to reduce energy consumption and heat build-up.

A: Bit late to the party, but in the hopes this may help someone: Yes, it makes noise. There is a constant hum, not just when on battery power, and noticeable vibration, kind of like touching a speaker. I would not recommend this for a quiet location.

Q: 3. What's the point of a 1 minute UPS?

A: In an event where power shuts off suddenly, a computer can crash and data can be lost. A UPS can give you time to shut off safely.

Q: 4. How long can it power a router and modem for if the power goes out?

A: This unit is rated for a full load runtime of 3 minutes and a half load runtime of 9 minutes. It would depend on the power draw of the items you had attached to the UPS.

Q: 5. Can this unit be plugged into a power strip? I am running out of wall outlets, and need to plug another UPS into a wall outlet.

A: You should not connect a UPS into a Surge protector power strip, it may not work as intended.

[35 x 24 x 14"] Purchased a backup power supply unit for my servers in our company. We have had many storms and power outage especially from Mid-July to the end of August right now and our servers never miss a beat. The power can fluctuate and the apc does the job by keeping to power steady to the servers. When our power does go out we have enough time to properly shut down our servers, firewalls, and switches which allows us to maintain the integrity of the hardware and keeps the hardware from malfunctioning due to power fluctuations or outages. 5
