Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this light screw into a HK or Surefire foregrip for an MP 5

A: It's for a SureFire LM2 6 VDC LED Conversion Head for 600 & 900 Series Forend Lights.

Q: 2. What would the effective distance of this light be? Could it be used to light a speaker at a conference from about 20 metres away?

A: It is a powerful light for its size, but I highly doubt it would give you enough power to light a person from that distance if its the only light you are relying on. I typically use it as a hair light or spot light on a background.

Q: 3. The reviews for Genaray's Contender Daylight version say that fan noise is an issue. However, the Q&A section of the Bi-color version says there is no fan in the Contender lineup. Can anyone confirm which description/answer is correct? Fan noise from 3 of these in a studio will drive our audio guy nuts. Thanks!

A: My daylight version has a fan-like noise and i can feel air blowing off of it when turned on. So, without proving it by taking it apart, i can still fairly safely say it has a fan. I would not have bought this because of it if I had realized it in time to return. Genaray should've noted fan noise in description. It's not good for interviews or anything quiet.

Q: 4. What is the capacity of this cell?

A: The capacity of this battery is 3V.

Q: 5. Are these Lithium Manganese Dioxide cells? If not, what is the chemistry?

A: The chemistry is lithium alone.

Q: 6. How fuzzy is the edge of the spot when focused down to the minimum diameter?

A: In spot mode, the Genaray Contender LED Focusing Spot Light with Battery Module Kit (Daylight) has a rapid but feathered edge to the light. If you watch the video on our webpage, they show the transition of the light from spot to flood against a wall starting around the 1:18 mark on the video.

Q: 7. I am thinking on upgrading to this from my older module, my question is, can i get any kind of switching tailcap for the leftover module if i upgrade?

A: Unfortunately there is no accessory tail cap available.

Q: 8. What are these batteries used for? Are they C or D battery equivalent?

A: The SureFire SF123A Batteries - 12 are CR123A lithium manganese dioxide batteries. They are not C or D batteries. There are some flashlights and other devices that use this size battery.

Q: 9. Does it come with any batteries?

A: This kit comes with batteries.

Q: 10. What's the mAh of the SF123A battery?

A: Antonio, I do not see the mAh listed on battery. web site may show details like this at the surefire website. Question: is the 123A name of this battery the answer to your question? These batteries, and an extra package of 2, came with my ke1d-a -- e1d led defender flashlight , which is a very powerful portable light source. good luck.

[300 lumen] I use this as a booklight. This is my second Surefire product. This is the best booklight on the market, although it is probably bought my military types for their nighttime raids and such. I plan on using it camping, outdoors, at the beach, and am sure my nephew can abuse it as much as he wants and it will not break. Excellent variable output. Excellent light color.

[2 x 2 x 1.3"] Most hours of use are a book lamp, but it gets used a lot outside at night. I have half a dozen headlamps. None compare. As a book lamp it is reassuring that I have such a reliable light in the event of an emergency next to the bed. Also as a book lamp, it does not take up permanent nightstand, wall, or floor space. I've already bought a second one as a give for a friend. He now owes me, as he loves it and uses it as much as i do.

[0.1 lb] I have owned many surefire products and always found them to be awesome. Their customer service is excellent although on the other coast, shipping is a drag. I have found a headlamp useful recently for tasks requiring two hands. I picked up a cheap one on a lark and found it useful but lacking in output. The surefire is a big step up. Great beam- oblong in appearance and extremely even. I like the variable output and the color. Bright enough for almost all tasks a headlamp is used for. If you want to do some type of speed sport at night, you may want to consider the 100 lumen model with a less desirable color balance but more power. For my needs, I prefer the better color of this model. The only thing that will take a bit of getting used to is the fact that it takes two hand to adjust the angle. Because the friction is so tight, I need two hands to adjust. A work around is to press the light against my forehead as I adjust the angle. It may loosen with use. I guess it is better to hold the angle than adjust too easily. I will use this light often as I wear it to bring firewood to my house. I heat exclusively with wood and make regular trips to the wood pile. The accurate color output allows me to identify species and dryness of the wood easily.

[300 lumen] This headlamp is literally used for everything from replacing electrical outlets in a house and working on a car, to BBQing on a weekend and hiking in the Sierra Nevadas. Won't ever need another headlamp; although, I've gifted one and bought another as a back-up.

[2 x 2 x 1.3"] After using inexpensive led lights clipped on the brim of my hat for nightly farm chores as well as for doing preflights on the helicopter I fly, I finally decided I needed a light I could easily aim as well as adjust the brightness. I looked at Petzl lights and others but failed to find anyting that really stood out. When I got the email ad from SureFire for the St. Minimus, my curiosity was piqued. I own a SureFire A2L which is a great light. The St. Minimus is made in much the same fashion, with a machined aluminum body that will aim up or down infinitely as well as adjust brightness from very dim to extremely bright. You can read the numbers in the spec sheet but the light is bright enough for me to use when carting horse manure from the barn, up the trail, into the woods where we store it. I can turn it up and see details several hundred feet away - well enough to avoid the occasional skunk or deer. When preflighting the helicopter, it keeps both my hands free to open cowlings or hold onto hand holds while peering into compartments. The light goes where I point my head. It really makes checking out a transmission compartment on top of a Bell 412 or an EC 135 a lot easier. I am still not completely sold on the CR-123A batteries. I wish I had the capability of using rechargeable NiMH batteries. If I had gone with the Minimus with the larger battery pack, that would have been an option. But the added weight and harnessing were not things I wanted. So far, the battery life with the 123 seems to be pretty good but I will have to use the light longer to really know. If you want a bombproof, versatile, functional headlamp that should last as long as you want to use a headlamp, the St. Minimus sure looks like it is at the head of the pack. It's not cheap. But like most things SureFire, it is beautifully made and thoughtfully executed.

[0.1 lb] I really like this light. I use it for work, camping and home projects. It is a little bigger than I was expecting. Not bad, though. I knew this going into it, but it is only 100 lumens. Which is a lot. But for the price, I was hoping they would cram a lot more into this thing. It's still plenty bright with a nice beam.

[2 x 2 x 1.3"] I've used several headlamps and this is by far the best. First, I really like the ability to adjust from 0 to 100 lumens. Most headlamps give you 2, maybe 3 different brightness levels. Also, it's great that it has an SOS distress beacon that switches on separately from the adjustment knob. I like that there is not a big battery pack with a cable at the back of my head, too. Initially I was only going to give this 4 stars, as I found the angle adjustment frustrating, because when I'd try to angle the light upward the battery cap would unscrew. However, once you've adjusted the beam angle up and down a few times, it loosens up and as long as the battery cap is on tight it will not unscrew. All in all, this is a fantastic light!

[2 x 2 x 1.3"] I wore this for the goruck challenge and it survived a beating. It is waterproof and I put that to the test. It lasted all night at brightest setting under intermittent use. No negatives except it ain't cheap.

[2 x 2 x 1.3"] Excellent Surefire build and craftsmanship and comfortable to wear. Light is more flood than spot and not quite as smooth and artifact free as my Surefire G2 Nitrolon. The variable output will be handy and works great. Only complaint I have is when turning the battery compartment to adjust the direction of beam up or down, it turns a little stiff. It may loosen up over time. It's a two-handed ordeal as of now.
