Designed to power audio signals in presentation scenarios, conference rooms, background retail, and other situations in which background/foreground music is required, the Atlas Sound DPA1202 is a 1200W multi-channel power amplifier featuring a network-based configuration for remote-web monitoring, as well as on-board DSP. Its four-channel setup can be configured in three different arrangements to meet the needs of any large-scale situation.

The unit is factory set to operate in a two-channel 70V mode, though it is designed to operate with low-impedance amplification as well; in those cases, you can configure the amplifier to handle loads of 4 or 8 Ohms. Additionally, the DPA1202 can be tweaked to simultaneously work in low- and high-impedance situations, allowing you to utilize 70 or 100V channels for background and paging, while dual 4 or 8 Ohm channels carry audio material in the foreground.

While the unit comes with four balanced line inputs, there's also an accessory slot which, if utilized, allows you to either add more analog inputs or route the unit into a Dante system. All inputs can be mixed into any amplifier channel, with each channel featuring an array of DSP tools such as EQs and limiters to tailor the sound for any room. Furthermore, outputs can be controlled through built-in pots or via the on-board GUI, and when networked, proprietary software will allow you to control various aspects of the DPA1202, or indeed, any DPA amplifier patched into the network. This unit takes up 1 RU of rack space.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will my dual battery charger and batteries from my D3X work for the D850?

A: Hi, batteries and charger for the D3x are not compatible with the D850.

Q: 2. Is there a secure way to attach a tripod to the grip, or should I use an L-bracket - And if so, what is recommended?

A: For the best fit with the MB-D18 attached to the D850, the Sunwayfoto Dedicated L-Bracket for Nikon D850 and Battery Grip, BH# SUPNLD850G would be ideal. https://bhpho.to/2OAX9O9

Q: 3. Is the MB-D18 manufactured in Japan or China?

A: Following unit is made China.

Q: 4. On the d850, is possible to use the EN-EL18 battery IN the camera in place of the EN EL15?

A: No, not in the camera directly. The Nikon D850 only takes EN-EL15 batteries and can only accept the EN-EL18 when the MB-D18 battery grip is attached.

Q: 5. What is on the underside of the battery pack? Still able to mount on my tripod or is it only usable as handheld?

A: It can be mounted on your tripod and if you needs require an L-Bracket , that can be mounted as well.

Q: 6. Can it be used in Nikon D7200??

A: Yes! The first bullet under HIGHLIGHTS might say D850, but thats only a ploy. YOU and ONLY you, can use this grip on any Nikon body you wish. This was an implementation by Nikon for buyers that choose not to read the item description. Hope this helps!

Q: 7. Someone suggested to me that there is a way to charge the batteries while in the grip, thereby avoiding the necessity of purchasing the expensive charger. Is that true? If so, does the charging cord come with the grip, or must we buy that separately?

A: Battery must be removed from the grip and recharged with a separate battery charger. There is no provision for charging the battery while its in the grip. If using a EN-EL18, you will need to buy a charger for it.

Q: 8. Is it true that the build material is mostly made out of plastic and not like previous Nikon battery grips that are made of Magnesium Alloy?

A: That is a bit of a leading question, and skips the real issue -- will it hold up? I use the MB-18 in all sorts of challenging environments all the time -- climbing on rocks, in wet areas, salt water, sand, and more. It is well-built, sturdy, and fits the D850 much better than the previous battery pack for the D810. It is lighter than that grip as well. I think it is a big improvement on the older battery pack, and recommend it without hesitation.

Q: 9. Is there something like this for the Z5?

A: The Nikon MB-N10 Multi-Battery Power Pack for Select Z-Series Cameras, BH # NIMBN10 would be compatible with the Nikon Z5. https://bhpho.to/3kjJdHu

Q: 10. Nikon WT-7A Wireless Transmitter. Im not quite familiar with this transmitter but I suspect you would have to take the MB D18 Off and replace it with this when using a transmitter. Or does the Transmitter have a battery and shutter speed as the MB D18 or will other transmitter work?

A: The Nikon WT-7A Wireless Transmitter technically only needs to be connected to a Nikon D500 or D850 DSLR camera by the included USB cable. The transmitter comes with a screw that can attach to the tripod socket in the bottom of the camera out of convenience, if you don't have something else attached to the tripod socket already. You could use the MB-D18 battery pack attached to the camera, and the WT-7A Wireless Transmitter plugged in via USB at the same time.

[40 kOhms] Quality and performance, I have never had a problem with this unit. I have it paired with a Marantz AV7702 and I use them for audio only the sound quality is excellent. It works great as a multi zone system. I had a Carver system for years and the difference in the sound quality was apparent the first time I listened to this unit. I love it!

[14 dBu, 3.82 V] Best purchase ever must have for music quality enthusiast. Having a power amp allowed me to also add in professional equalizer to my SR 5011 receiver. Provided power to drive the surround speakers to turn up the movies and music experience to another level which was unachievable with the SR 5011 receiver alone

[Ethernet] I have been listening to this unit for about a year now. It's paired with Dynaudio Evoke system. I come from years of Car Audio SQ competition, and Home audio system. This has blown me away for the price vs. performance. This amp can beat the hell out of these speakers when asked...and stays poised the entire time. The SQ is amazing for the speakers price point.
