[43 mm] What can I say, it is a lens hood that does lens hood stuff The build quality is what I expect to see from Canon and it is even one-up from other lens hoods I have for STM lenses because of the manner in which it locks onto the lens; well done Canon. More than just being a great lens hood, I actually see more value in this hood for its protective feature than its stray light blocking feature. The 50mm 1.8 STM lens barrel extends when focusing while the hood remains in place, allowing the hood to serve as a protector of the extended barrel. 5
