[300] This is an excellent portrait lens. I prefer it to the 56 f/1.2 which I also own.

[Clear] I used this lens to focus on my daughter's eye in pitch-darkness as she watched a fireworks show, and made a photo of her face with the reflections of fireworks in her eye. What this lens can do, and its optics, are just stunning. The lens is in a category of its own (and I say that as someone who owns about 10 of the budget f/0.95 lenses, many of which I also love, but can't compare to this one). For those of you who have seen that it won a certain photography website's Worst Lens Of The Year Award, ask yourself why that website based that opinion pretty much solely on slight color fringing in a fringing torture test that no ultrafast lens ever made can pass, but heaped superlatives on other budget ultrafast lenses without even testing them the same way. I own those other lenses and I can promise you their color fringing is WAY worse than the Fujifilm's.

[Clear] This lens has excellent qualities and I love the bokeh effect, it’s sharpness in the center and on the edges. I will use it quite often with my FujiFilm XT-4 camera. However, it has a couple of flaws. One doesn’t bother me too much, the second one is a little bit disappointing. 1st it’s a big heavy lens. 2nd Manual Focus is not exactly the way a user would expect it. I don’t know how to explain it well by words, but definitely is less direct and immediate than in other lenses. It’s like a sort of servo-motor is still engaged when you rotate the ring with your hand and that not only creates noise, but makes the whole operation of focusing manually, less pleasant and in my specific case longer. Now let me explain why I still have to this prime five stars, which is rare for me. Even though the manual focusing it is important, I have to agree that the AF is more than usable at f1.0 and many other prime lenses in this category are manual focus only, so basically the image quality is very, very good and the usability is good. Finally, I have seen a little bit of chromatic aberrations in the form of a slight purple color present in the highlights, but I think that in order to avoid that completely the lens would be way more expensive than what it is now. If this lens cost $200 less, then it would have a perfect value for money ratio.

[300] 50mm F1 is a great addition in the fujifilm lens Kit. It's a bit heavier then the 56mm 1.2, but the quality and light gathering of f/1 makes up for it. The 76mm focal length is perfect as it give you the telephoto look with a bit of the environment.

[Full Card] Without a doubt my new fave on the XT3. I do a lot of event photography and really don't like using flash. This lens is remarkable in low light. You can bump the ISO up and still get insanely beautiful results. Maybe rent first before you buy but in my opinion a definite must-buy!

[Full Card] I sold my 56 1.2 for this lens and I must say I'm glad I did. This lens is just as sharp wide open and is quicker to focus than the 56 1.2 but it is substantial - you feel both the weight and the superb quality of the lens.
For video the autofocus is not as reliable but for photos I hardly miss a shot. If you don't mind the weight you'd love it. It is more than twice the weight of the 56 and it's also larger and heavier than the Viltrox 85 1.8.

[Clear] For a long time I had the Fuji 56mm lens which was okay but always hated standing too far away from my subjects. So finally traded it in for the 50mm 1.0 lens. This is a lens that is perfect for someone wanting to take their time with each shot (not ideal for moving objects if shooting at 1.0). The photos do pop more so than with other lenses. Yes it is a large heavy lens but I did not notice this while using it. Take your time with your photos and you will truly be pleased with this lens.

[300] I debated between this lens and the 56mm f/1.2 for a long time. I ended up purchasing this one due to it being ever so slightly wider, which I found worked well for what I needed. It is heavier than the 56, but it is honestly worth it for the image quality. The ability to shoot at f/1 is wonderful and I personally stop it down to around f/1.6 for really solid results for portraits. Highly recommend looking into this lens if you’re looking for something that can let in a ton of light and don’t mind the weight too much.
