Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there any back pack can fit the system when not using it

A: There was a three bag system available. At this time we suggest this all in one bag. Porta Brace RIG-4SRKOR Wheeled Rig and Camera Case with Interior Kit B&H # PORIG4SRKOR.

Q: 2. If I use my Sony A7SII, what cable do I need to use to be able to connect through the sled to send the signal to the on board monitor? or if it's included already?

A: You would need a DC powered converter box that converts HDMI to HD/SDI BNC. Operators will usually Velcro a converter box underneath the top stage and power it with the Steadicam D-Tap to 2.1mm DC power cable item # 815-0104. The Aero has 1x BNC video input connector and 1x D-Tap power output on the top stage.

Q: 3. What is the battery pack? Is that to power the camera or the steadicam itself?

A: The battery powers the Steadicam monitor. No power is required for the Steadicam, it works based upon proper balance and is gravity powered. The camera runs on its own battery.

Q: 4. Can I use a Canon C300 Markii on this rig?

A: This supports up to 10 lb Payload. Just as long as you keep the build of your C300 Mark II to under 10 pounds, it will work.

Q: 5. Also, can this fly with bigger camera like FS5/FS7 or Canon c200 or Ursa mini? or should I go for Aero 30 system? but my own camera is A7S II, will be greta if anyone has experience can help, cheers

A: The Aero 15 arm/vest has a payload capacity of 15lbs including the sled/battery. This means that your camera payload should stay below 8-10lbs in most cases. if your camera payload exceeds this weight, you should look at the Aero 30 which has a weight capacity of 30lbs.

Q: 6. Does the AERO 15 come with all the cables needed to send a feed to the monitor?

A: Product lists coming with a BNC cable for connection between the post and monitor.

Q: 7. What is the size of the post that connects to the sled? 1/2", 5/8", or 3/4"?

A: The Post size on the Areo models is as follows- 1/2" Basic Docking Bracket = Standard with AERO-15 1/2" Deluxe Docking Bracket = Standard with AERO-30

Q: 8. How do I use a camera that has only HDMI with this rig?

A: While the cable on the top that connects to the monitor is SDI, the monitor itself also has an HDMI input as well. You would just need to run a separate HDMI cable from the camera to the monitor in that case.

Q: 9. I have a JVC 790. My camera weighs 11lbs with the battery mounted. Can I power the camera with the lower battery? Can I balance an 11lb camera on this?

A: It is possible to power the JVC GY-HM790 ProHD ENG / Studio Camera on the Steadicam AERO 15 Stabilizer System with Gold Mount Battery Plate and 7" Monitor using a D-Tap to 4-pin XLR cable that is regulated to the 12v power 4-pin port on the camera. Regarding the balancing, the arm with sled supports up to 10lbs. If the payload exceeds 10lbs, it is recommended to use a stronger arm. The Steadicam AERO 30 Stabilizer System with A-30 Arm & Gold Mount Battery Plate is an example that supports up to 20lb payload on the sled. See the link below: https://bhpho.to/2GKAaNJ

Q: 10. Does the monitor have a BNC input as well as a separate power input? I'm hoping it isn't the single "all-in-one" interface.

A: YEs the video and power inputs are 2 separate inputs

[Yes] I found it as expected. Serves the purpose perfectly.

[A-15] I bought a few of these because I needed small weights to help counter-balance my BMPCC on a motorized gimbal. With a decent cage around my camera, these weights were ideal as I can mount them in any -20 thread and get the results I need. Due to a threaded hole on the opposite side, I'm able to use these to mount exterior accessories slightly higher when needed. These are pretty ideal for more than their intended purpose. I also like that they're only 4 ounces each (most other counterweights are a pound or more, which was way more than I need).

[27.25 lb] Attached right into the cheese board I had on the underside of my camera rig. I was able to add the extra weight to it balance out for my flycam support vest.

[A-15] We were in a toss up for a while whether to get the Zephyr for almost double the cost of this, and so glad we went with the AERO. For what were doing: flying the Alexa Mini with CN-E primes and flying Canon C300s most of the time, its perfect. Our Alexa Mini with 24mm Canon CN-E lens, Anton Bauer Cine 150 battery, Teradek 100, and Nucleus M follow focus is right at 18 pounds and feels great. Its got the same vest as the Steadicam Zephyr, which is nice too. If you want to see some sample footage check our Youtube Channel: Film Jams

[A-15] used this on the end of a selphy stick to help stabilize an LG 360 cam. I use 4 and my videos have smoothed out significantly.

[27.25 lb] I'm using these with my Ronin-S. I attach them with a small cheese plate to the back of the Ronin-S' camera plate and it allows me to offset or move forward my Sony X70 far enough to operate in underslung and flashlight mode clearing the rear motor assembly.
Props to Josh at Make Art Now for the tip.
