The 12" A3 (Cardioid) from Countryman is a podium condenser microphone designed to provide clear voice reproduction for use in meetings, conventions, lectures, and houses of worship. It features dual capsules tuned for clarity, wide frequency response, low noise, and a high maximum SPL of approximately 130 dB.

Integrated damping, along with the dual-cartridge design, attenuates thumps, rumble, vibration, and handling noise. The mic’s shielding and circuit design protect it from picking up interference from radio frequencies. The supplied windscreen reduces the level of breaths and plosives.

A standard XLR 3-pin male connector allows you to connect it to most mixers and mic preamps. The A3 is powered by 48 VDC phantom power. A protective case is included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I want to plug this mic into a wireless pack for stereo recording. Is that possible?

A: This is not a stereo microphone. It would capture a voice in mono, which is usually most ideal for clear capture of speech. Please e-mail us at audio@bhphoto.com , or live chat with us, so we can discuss what you are trying to record in more detail, and check compatibility with your wireless system.

Q: 2. Hello, if we get this mic, do i need anything more to install it on a table?

A: I installed it in a podium. I had to drill a hole to install the insert for the mic and ran the cable underneath. The mic then plugs into the cable when you put it in the holder.

Q: 3. What are the significant differences between the new 13000XL and the 12000XL it is replacing?

A: There are no significant changed between the 12000 and 13000 models. The 13000 was made to be more compatible with the newer Apple processors. This really had no affect on Windows users.

Q: 4. Is there a microphone that can be used with one of this systems transmitter to put on a podium?

A: There are a few options for you. 1) You can get the Saramonic UMIC-M2 gooseneck microphone that plugs right into the transmitter. Please the transmitter on the podium and pick up the presenters that way. 2) You can get the Saramonic HU9 handheld transmitter for that system, place it on a mic stand of the podium. 3) You can get the Saramonic TX-XLR9 Plug-On Transmitter and use any XLR mic you want with it. All options are available at B&H. I hope that helps.

Q: 5. I want to use this microphone with Tascam DR_05 recorders. Is that possible? Does the recorder supply the power? The tech page notes -- Requires a bias voltage of 1.5 to 10 VDC (plug-in power) or a battery module.

A: The Tascam DR-05 is able to supply plug-in power to mics that require it.

Q: 6. Will this work with a UWMIC10 reciver?

A: No, the Saramonic Vlink2 HU Cardioid Handheld Microphone Transmitter for Vlink2 System (2.4 GHz) is not compatible for use with any of the Saramonic UwMic wireless microphone systems and is intended for use with the Vlink2 Wireless Microphone System. There is no UwMic10 series, but there are UwMic9 and UwMic9S series wireless mic systems which operate on the UHF band. The Vlink series components operate on the 2.4 GHz band which is not compatible with the UHF band used by the UwMic9 and UwMic9S components.

Q: 7. what setup support will B&h help with?

A: We offer tech support by phone. You can also call Epson for tech support by phone as well.

Q: 8. Can I use Sennheiser ME 4 cardioid lav mics? This kit seems almost perfect for my needs, with the exception that I need cardioid mics.

Q: 9. Is the 514 to 596 MHz freq block still legal in the US for unlicensed wireless mics use?

[Black] I previously bought another brand's earset because it saved me a little bit of cash and got great reviews. It was never truly comfortable, always digging in to the top of my ear, no matter much I readjusted the fit. And then the cord malfunctioned. I plugged in a second cord and it worked again but the second cord's plug is frozen and it couldn't be replaced when it inevitably broke. So I decided to go for the Countryman and see if there was any difference. Huge difference! It's so comfortable I don't feel that I'm even wearing it. Sounds great right out of the box. It didn't need any audio adjustments and now I'm a happy camper. It's always been my thing to get the best quality. In the long run it always pays off. I should've listen to my self and go on with the Countryman from the get go. I have absolutely no regrets regarding this is new ear set, other than the money I wasted.

[Phantom Power] We have a small church with big speakers, and our pastor likes to walk around a lot. This Mic has given us so many advantages over every other microphone we us in our church. No doubt the best investment we've made. The Sound is natural, Virtually no feedback and it's steady and holds it's place. Comfortable and strong.

[0.94 lb] The microphone was fairly simple to install--either had to drill a 7/8 or a 1-3/4 hole in the pulpit to establish a firm holder, but the hardware was there and the microphone works very well.

[Phantom Power] This boom mic was a perfect choice for the fundraiser we conducted in a hotel ballroom. The fidelity of the mic was excellent as we pumped voice through the hotels house system. We paired it with a Sennheiser EW 172 G3-A1 receiver. The mic was comfortable, crisp and clear and had no background noise. Definitely worth the price.

[Phantom Power] I use the countryman for my sermons on sunday morning and/or sunday nights. It is crisp clear and easy to fit to the ear. I followed the directions to fit my countryman to me and it fit so well that once I started speaking I forgot it was there. I did have one small issue with feedback but that was due to the soundtech putting me into the stage monitors too much.

[0.94 lb] I am familiar with this product as a sound technician at our church, and the facility manager at a conference center. Countryman has a great product... sound quality is great and works well on our Shure wireless system.
