The 24" A3 (Cardioid) from Countryman is a podium condenser microphone designed to provide clear voice reproduction for use in meetings, conventions, lectures, and houses of worship. It features dual capsules tuned for clarity, wide frequency response, low noise, and a high maximum SPL of approximately 130 dB.

Integrated damping, along with the dual-cartridge design, attenuates thumps, rumble, vibration, and handling noise. The mic’s shielding and circuit design protect it from picking up interference from radio frequencies. The supplied windscreen reduces the level of breaths and plosives.

A standard XLR 3-pin male connector allows you to connect it to most mixers and mic preamps. The A3 is powered by 48 VDC phantom power. A protective case is included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the max width and or length quadcopter frame that this unit can be used on.

A: Hello Robin and thanks for your question. We have primarily tested the A3 Pro Flight Control System with the Spreading Wings (B&H # DJS1000P) and DJI M600 (B&H # DJM600, B&H # DJMAT600PRO) series of aircraft. The approximate dimensions of the M600 series are 1668 mm x 1518 mm x 759 mm (propellers, frame arms and GPS mount unfolded) and the maximum takeoff weight is approximately 15.5kg. Hence, aircraft frames that fit within these dimensions and criteria will certainly be compatible. Larger frames should also be compatible, however we have not tested such configurations. Thanks!

Q: 2. Can I use Sennheiser ME 4 cardioid lav mics? This kit seems almost perfect for my needs, with the exception that I need cardioid mics.

A: Yes, the Sennheiser ME 4 Cardioid Lavalier Microphone can be used with the Saramonic UwMic9 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Mic System.

Q: 3. Are film holders necessary for scanning negatives? If so, where can I find them?

A: The Epson Expression 13000XL Archival Scanner with A3 Transparency Unit comes with these film holders: 2 x 35mm Film Holder 2 x Mounted Slide Holder 2 x Medium Format Film Holder 2 x 4 x 5" Film Holder

Q: 4. What are the significant differences between the new 13000XL and the 12000XL it is replacing?

A: There are no significant changed between the 12000 and 13000 models. The 13000 was made to be more compatible with the newer Apple processors. This really had no affect on Windows users.

Q: 5. what setup support will B&h help with?

A: We offer tech support by phone. You can also call Epson for tech support by phone as well.

Q: 6. I want to plug this mic into a wireless pack for stereo recording. Is that possible?

A: This is not a stereo microphone. It would capture a voice in mono, which is usually most ideal for clear capture of speech. Please e-mail us at audio@bhphoto.com , or live chat with us, so we can discuss what you are trying to record in more detail, and check compatibility with your wireless system.

Q: 7. How does this system compare to the Sennheiser G4 system or the Sony UWP-D?

A: The Saramonic UwMic9 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System is most similar to the Sony UWP-D system. There is not currently a dual-channel version of the Sennheiser EW 100 G4 available. The UwMic9 transmitters feature a similar output spec of 10/20/30mW to the Sony UTX-B40's 5/30mW and Sennheiser's 30mW output. The UwMic9 features less potential frequency options, topping out at 96 frequencies, where Sony offers up to 2,772 and Sennheiser offers 1,680. All makes do feature the ability to scan for an open channel based on location. Saramonic's RX9 receiver features a single TRS output for both micropone channels, where Sony's URX-P03D offers an individual output for each. Overall, however, the Saramonic UwMic9 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System provides significant value at its price point.

Q: 8. I want to use this microphone with a wireless pack to record in stereo. Will it plug in to a wireless pack or does it need to plug in directly to the recording device?

A: This can work with some wireless systems. Please contact us at 800-606-6969, via live chat, or at audio@bhphoto.com so we can further discuss what you are trying to record, and help you find the best solution.

Q: 9. Are there any frames used to hold 5x7 glass negatives

A: The Epson Expression 13000XL Archival Scanner does not have frames for 5x7 glass negatives, but thick originals like that can be scanned.

Q: 10. Will the TX9 perform good if I connect the receiver RX9 via the SR-UM10-CC1 to a Zoom H8?

A: Yes, I have connected it to a Zoom H4n recorder with no problems.

[Black] E6 head mic is wonderful sounding mic for speech and singing. Much better than a traditional lav.(unless you do not want to see anything, then a lav dressed into the hairline is best. It can make a sound system in a bad environment sound pretty good. I use them mated to Sennheiser wireless system on our pastors. In my early career as a Sound Designer, I used them exclusively on theater productions. I also like that if the cable goes bad you can replace at the ear mic. This opinion is based on ROI. I do like the DPA's, but for the money go Countryman.

[Cardioid] We use several of these in our church for primary speakers and some dramatic groups. The consistent mic position on the talent keeps audio quality high, and the small size keeps it mostly out of sight. They take a bit of care to place around the ear; for regular users we recommend one be permanently assigned to reduce constant flexing. The 1mm adapter cables (vary with wireless pack) hide nicely and put less tension on the earset, but are particularly fragile. For heavy use, I recommend using 2mm cables.

[Cardioid] My pastor has use a Countryman microphone for 5 years. We opted to purchase a new microphone when we upgraded to the Sennheiser instead of puchasing an adapter. The cord is more durable than the one we had and the sound quality is excellent. It is easy to fit to any ear. We are looking forward to many years of use as we have come to expect from Countryman products.

[Black] Needed mic for church with as low of noise as possible. It is incredible. So much better than the Shure micro flex.

[Cardioid] I previously bought another brand's earset because it saved me a little bit of cash and got great reviews. It was never truly comfortable, always digging in to the top of my ear, no matter much I readjusted the fit. And then the cord malfunctioned. I plugged in a second cord and it worked again but the second cord's plug is frozen and it couldn't be replaced when it inevitably broke. So I decided to go for the Countryman and see if there was any difference. Huge difference! It's so comfortable I don't feel that I'm even wearing it. Sounds great right out of the box. It didn't need any audio adjustments and now I'm a happy camper. It's always been my thing to get the best quality. In the long run it always pays off. I should've listen to my self and go on with the Countryman from the get go. I have absolutely no regrets regarding this is new ear set, other than the money I wasted.

[0.95 lb] We use the mic on a weekly basis as our main preaching mic. Sound quality, comfort, durability . . . all excellent. We now have 2 of these mics and they are both GREAT.

[Phantom Power] Our new Countryman sounds great, just like the others we've used before. The 2mm cable is more robust and the flexible earpiece stays in position better.

[Black] These mics are great for musician/singers that need freedom to see music or the instrument while singing simultaneously. They take adjustment to your ear and should not be shared to preserve their life. They can cause slight discomfort on the back of the eat due to a pressure point caused by the rigid flexible junction if not adjusted just right. For the size of microphone, the quality is exceptional, and the latest generation has a bigger coax cable that feeds the receiver which should be much more durable. For pure singer voice quality, my handhelds have better quality.

[0.95 lb] I use the countryman for my sermons on sunday morning and/or sunday nights. It is crisp clear and easy to fit to the ear. I followed the directions to fit my countryman to me and it fit so well that once I started speaking I forgot it was there. I did have one small issue with feedback but that was due to the soundtech putting me into the stage monitors too much.

[Cardioid] For professional performance you need professional equipment. This mic is light weight, comfortable and is an excellent product. I would not hesitate to buy another on.
