Spanning a versatile and long-reaching focal length range, the Nikon F-mount Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Nikon Ffrom Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Nikon Fis a 4x zoom covering telephoto to super telephoto perspectives. Complementing the long reach is an optimized optical design that features three low dispersion (LD) glass elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range. eBAND and BBAR coatings have also been applied to reduce ghosting and flare when working in strong, backlit lighting conditions.

Beyond its optical attributes, the G2 version of this lens also incorporates a FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism to permit locking the zoom position at any focal length position to prevent accidental zoom extension. Conventional zoom lock is also featured to prevent barrel extension during transport. Suiting handheld shooting situations, Vibration Compensation (VC) is a 4.5-stop-effective image stabilization mechanism that helps to reduce the appearance of camera shake for sharper results when working with slower shutter speeds. A ring-type Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) autofocus motor delivers notably quick and accurate focusing performance to suit working with fast-moving subjects, and full-time manual focus is also supported for fine-tuned control. Benefitting its use outdoors, the lens also features a moisture-resistant construction along with a fluorine-coated front element to guard against dirt, dust, moisture, and smudging from affecting image quality. The ergonomic and durable metal construction of the lens also incorporates textured focus and zoom rings, and a removable, rotating tripod collar with an Arca-type compatible foot is supplied to better enable shooting from tripods and monopods.

Spanning a versatile, long-reaching range, this tele to super-tele zoom is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, and can also be used with DX models where it will provide a 225-900mm equivalent focal length range.

Three low dispersion elements are incorporated to nearly eliminate both axial and transverse chromatic aberrations and color fringing for increased clarity and color fidelity throughout the zoom range.

Both eBAND and BBAR coatings have been applied to suppress ghosting and lens flare for improved contrast when working in backlit conditions.

VC image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 4.5 stops for more effective handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions. Three separate VC modes are also available to suit various styles of shooting: Mode 1 is a balanced setting for general use, and promotes both a stabilized viewfinder image and stabilized results; Mode 2 is designed exclusively for panning movements; and Mode 3 is optimized to stabilize only during capture without stabilizing the viewfinder image.

A ring-type USD autofocus motor delivers quick and precise focusing performance to suit working with moving subjects. This motor also affords full-time manual focus control.

A FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism enables you to lock the zoom at any position in order to prevent unwanted zoom extension during use. A conventional zoom lock switch is also featured, which locks the zoom in place at the 150mm position to prevent zoom extension during transportation.

A sealed, moisture-resistant construction benefits this lens' use in inclement conditions, and a fluorine coating has also been applied to the front lens element to protect against dust, dirt, and smearing.

Durable metal barrel uses a curved, ergonomic shape for easy handling, and both the zoom and focus rings are textured for improved grip.

A removable rotating tripod collar features an Arca-type compatible foot and benefits working with the lens atop a tripod or monopod.

An electromagnetic diaphragm is used for more precise and consistent exposure control, especially when shooting at high continuous shooting rates. Due to this unique design, this lens is only compatible with select Nikon F-mount cameras that support an electromagnetic diaphragm, including the D3100, D3200, D3300, D3400, D5000, D5100, D5200, D5300, D5500, D5600, D7000, D7100, D7200, D7500, D300, D300s, D600, D610, D700, D750, D800, D800E, D810, D810A, D850, D3x, D3s, D4, D4s, Df, D500, and D5 DSLRs.

Q: 1. At what focal length does the aperture jump from f/5 to f/6.3? Sadly not finding this information anywhere.

A: From 450-600mm the aperture is 6.3.

Q: 2. Can it zoom while in autofocus mode?

A: Yes, the lens can autofocus while you are zooming. But if you are referring to par focal. The lens like most is not a par focal lens.

Q: 3. Does your current stock of this lens (04/19) work with a Nikon Z7 without having to update the firmware?

A: You have to do a firmware update , and of course Nikon FTZ adapter

Q: 4. will this lens auto focus properly shooting video with a canon 5d mark IV?

A: I can't say it will for that camera and I can't tell about video. I never shoot video, but it works for regular photos on my Canon Rebel EOS T2i just fine.

Q: 5. has this been used with a Canon EOS R?

A: This lens can be used with the Canon EOS R by adding the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, B&H # CAMAEFRF. https://bhpho.to/300yC91

Q: 6. I read in a forum that the tamron lenses are not working properly with the EF-EOS R adaptor on the R6 and R5 EOS cameras. Is this still an issue or has it been fixed already?

A: As of 2021 Tamron last released a Firmware for the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 for Canon EF the end of 2018. There have been no Firmware updates since then.

Q: 8. Does it work with Sigma 1.4 and 2.0 extenders?

A: You would lose auto-focus with teleconverter

Q: 9. I tried out the older model, and the autofocus did not work with the FTZ adapter. Will this one work?

A: Putting a FTZ adapter on a Z camera makes the camera like any other Nikon. With both lenses, you should not have any issues. From here, I would say that the older lens did not work due to the camera or the lens not being correctly set up or there is a service issue in the lens.

Q: 10. Is this a varifocal lens?

A: The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 for Canon EF is a zoom lens. The focal length has a 150mm to 600mm range.

[9, Rounded] Far exceeds my expectations. Amazingly clear images following Eagles in flight using full 600mm from tripod.

[Nikon F] First and foremost, this lens opened up a world of possibilities for me. I've since elevated my wildlife photography to a previously unreachable level and I've only had this lens for 3 weeks. So far I have probably taken 1,000 images with a keeper rate of 10-20% per photo session. I was very torn on choosing this lens over the Sigma 150-600 but after using this lens I know I've made the right choice even though most reviews give the Sigma a slight edge in brightness and sharpness. However those factors aren't everything when determining what lens is right for you, and after weeks of research the Tamron 150-600 checked more boxes for me than the Sigma. I will offer full disclosure on this lens though, it is very very thirsty for light. With that said, don't be afraid to lower your aperture, increase your shutter speed, and set your ISO at a decent mid range. Find great lighting opportunities and you will nail some banger photos. Even if the light isn't so great I've managed to produce some great images through processing techniques. I've since bought the tap in console for Tamron lenses and I'm very excited to dial in the lens to my required taste. Happy shooting.

[95 mm (Front)] Bought this lens for my wife. Pictures have been spectacular.

[95 mm (Front)] All the reviews on the interwebs are true. This is a great lens for amateur wildlife photography. No, it isn't as good as the Nikon 600mm f/4. BUT, it costs 10% as much and it weighs half as much.

[Yes] Recently started to use this lens for bird in flight photography, I am able to hand hold which is a big deal compared to my Nikon 200-400 f4. Seems to focus fast enough so far and some recent pictures came out great. For the price I do not believe you will get a better lens in the focal range of 150-600

[Nikon F] Much lighter to carry around than the lens it replaced and the extra 100mm of focal length helps as well. As an older photographer of birds, weight in combination with functionality is increasingly important. The focus is a bit slower, but only noticeable when trying to focus on a fast-moving or small bird. Even then, it's not that much slower.

[f/5 to 6.3] This is a lot of lens! Its heavy. But I am glad I got it. Going to need a lot of practice with it, but thats OK. B&H customer service is awesome. I will not buy from anyone else. Would buy lens again its well made. Have wanted this one for a long time.

[Autofocus] After a 4-mile hike with my Canon 600 f4, tripod and gimbal, I decided to buy this for portability. This is not a replacement for the 600 f4, it focuses a little slower, it's not quite as sharp, and I use it exclusively at f6.3 or smaller. But it can be easily hand held for a long time, it focuses fast enough and it's still very sharp - and it's about 85% cheaper than the Canon 600 f4. This is my first third-party lens and I'm delighted by how good it is. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

[Yes] This
is my second Tamron SP 150-600mm that I have purchased, my first lens was old
and outdated however it was still a great lens but I wanted to upgrade to a
newer model so I purchased the new Tamron
SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 for Canon EF and
I have no regrets the lens exceeds my expectations! I paired this new lens with
a Cannon RP Camera and the Tamron 1.4 Teleconverter and I am well pleased with
the results the only issue that I have found is that I had trouble with the
auto focus with the lens extended fully however I learned that I could move the
lens back a little and the auto focus would work and when I had the picture focused,
I could lock on it with my camera and then extend the lens out fully and it
would stay focused! I am starting to love this Lens it is just as good as some
of the higher priced lens!

Would I recommend absolutely!!!
