Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible to remove the legs from the bottom cap, or purchase a bottom cap without the legs?

A: The legs are stored inside the monopod and that acts as the cap for the bottom when you are not using the legs. It is best described on page 7 of the user manual: https://bhpho.to/2waKRWW

Q: 2. Is the Oben ACM-2400 4-Section Aluminum Monopod sturdy enough for a pair of them to be used as walking sticks as well? My wife had a knee replacement but wants to get out and hike and take photos. She has a pair of collapsible walking sticks (somewhere buried in our garage), but monopods would certainly expedite our photography if they are strong enough to serve double-duty. Thank you for sharing your experience with this monopod!

A: I would say yes as long as she needs a little help and if it's for a short distance. I can place my bracket, canon 5d m3 & 70-200 lens on top of this baby but if I push down hard enough it will lower (a lot of force). It is very sturdy. I'd recommend going on a short adventure, use them and let her test the weight of the monopod and comfort of use as a walking stick. Good Luck!

Q: 3. Do you need a ball head?

A: You only really need a single axis head such as the Oben VH-R2. With a monopod you pan by simply rotating the entire monopod. Such a head is easier to adjust one-handed when using a monopod. Unlike a tripod, a monopod won't stand on its own while you use one hand to hold the camera/lens so they don't flop around while using the other hand to loosen and tighten the adjustment knob.

Q: 4. is this a strong and durable tripod

A: This is a durable tripod capable of supporting up to 13 pounds.

Q: 5. How much does the ACM-2400L 4-Section ...self standing Monopod weigh?

A: That monopod weighs 2.5 lb (1.13 kg)

Q: 6. Which tripods does it work with? Anything with 75mm ball mount?

A: The Novoflex 18.9" Geared Center Column for TrioPod PRO75 Tripod System is really only made to work with Novoflex TrioPod PRO75 with 4-Section Carbon Fiber tripod, https://bhpho.to/3yePxrI .

Q: 7. Three set screws underneath the collar enable you to fasten the head securely to the plate. What exactly does this refer to? How does this relate to Oben heads for example which do not show an ability to be screwed to the plate other than with the main reversible mounting screw?

A: All of the ball heads will screw onto the tripod center column plate and are snugged down by hand. On some tripods, under the center column plate are three set screws that when run in from underneath will contact the underside of the ball head. This helps keep the ball head from unscrewing when panning back and forth over time. Hope this helps, Kirk

Q: 8. In the userguide of this product, I saw that it mentions about mouting HeadBall with this product. So does it come together with HeadBall or we must to buy separate one

A: This monopod does not come with a ball head, and you will need to purchase one separately. I recommend the Oben VH-R2 Tilt Head for Monopods: http://bhpho.to/Iwakv7

Q: 9. What material are the flip locks made of? Is it plastic or aluminum?

A: In the Oben ACM-2400 4-Section Aluminum Monopod, the flip locks are made of durable plastic.

Q: 10. which type of folding legs fit for this monopod....manfrott has a 3 leg set but that did not fit in..did any body tried any other products ???

A: Not sure whay you'd try to add folding legs to a monopod. It's meant to be a single leg support...hence MONO pod. So, to answer your question; No, there are no folding legs that fit this item.

[Aluminum] I bought a set of these a few years ago for an Impact Heavy Duty Air-cushioned light stand with a boom and heavy lamp. The wheels fit fine, but no matter how much I tightened them they eventually flopped over. I was continually having to reset and tighten them, and finally just removed them. Fortunately I did not throw them away. In a what-if moment I thought about inserting a layer double sided tape in the caster leg recess. It worked perfectly, no sliding around at all. (I realized later that I could have more easily wrapped the stand leg instead of fitting the tape strip into the caster recess.) I have since purchased two more sets for two other identical Impact stands. Rather than using double sided tape I used Scotch Interior Mount tape to cover the the face of the chrome pressure plate. (Another reviewer suggested gaffer tape which may also work, but it is not sticky on both sides.) It works just as well as my previous remedy and is a lot easier than the regular double sided tape. I don't know about other brands, but I can highly recommend these casters for the Impact Heavy Duty light stand.

[Twist Lock] I got new heavy weight light stands (very pleased with them too) but obviously, to move a Key light (for example) with weights it would be an uncomfortable task. Enter the Impact Locking casters. Problem solved! Yes, you should read about how to set up your bottom light stand legs for the wheels to be leveled but I do not consider that a problem. On the contrary, it shortens the legs footprint which can be very large at full extension. Locking mechanism worked perfectly.

[1/4"-20 Male] These are great casters. Unfortunately, there are a couple of misleading negative reviews saying they don't work correctly. If you're having issues with the wheels spinning inward when you put weight on the stand, you're using the wrong type of stand. These are designed for traditional light stands ( B&H calls them general purpose stands ), NOT C-stands. The angle of the legs on C-stands is too steep to use these casters which is why there are casters made specifically for C-stands.

[Twist Lock] At first I was suspicious
Then it came to me and it seems to work well
Very high quality everything is built of metal except the cover of the screw that locks the leg of the tripod is made of plastic and it is a bit disappointing
But overall it works perfectly
highly recommend!!!

[4] I found these to be extremely well made. They are perfect for folding tripod light stands. As you might imagine, it's so much easier to roll a stand than to carry it around, especially with the added weight of a light and modifiers.

Yes, the tripod legs have to be at the proper angle in order to have the best rolling experience. It's really not an issue. When I first installed the wheels and set the proper angle, I marked the center column just above the upper leg casting. Now, when I open the stand, I can easily set the leg angle to the perfect position. Done!

The brakes work very well, and the three-inch polymer wheels roll nicely over any flat surface, even carpeting.

Just make sure your sizing them correctly to your stand legs. These are the 25mm version, but Impact also has a set for 22mm legs. You'll save even more on those.

So, get rolling... You won't regret it.

[Spiked] These casters make a heavy C-stand easy to move around the studio. They are easy to install and have the ability to lock in place. Well made.

[Aluminum] If you have a Triopod, which is an exceptional tripod, you need this to make it a great tripod. A bit of fine height adjustment, just what it needed to make it even better. Highly recommended, as are all the Novoflex products, superb engineering, peerless machining, just perfect, and oh so useful in the field.
