Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use my 100mm bowl head with these legs or is it proprietary for only sachtler heads?

A: The HotPod attachment works only with Sachtler heads

Q: 2. Hi. Will this tripod work with sachtler 12 video head?

A: yes

Q: 3. How much does this weigh overall?

A: 14.25 pounds

Q: 4. Is it possible to use the lens head without the bellows, say, with a dslr. If so, what other accesories would be necessary?

A: Each component of this kit is a discrete item, so you could take it apart and use the pieces separately. However, they are designed only to work in this form, so what you want to do may or may not be possible.

Q: 5. Which Sachtler Threaded Bolt do I need to fit to my Sachtler DV 12 TB fluid head to this tripod?

A: The DV 12 TB will fit on a Hot Pod as-is, no need for any modification.

Q: 6. How do you tighten the legs to stop them from slipping?

A: If the brakes are slipping when the red locking arm is engaged on a given leg, it's simple to tighten. I believe it's a 12mm hex bolt on the backside of each brake. Simply loosen the red locking arm completely, then give the hex a couple of small adjustments and re-test. DO NOT over-tighten, as you might crack the carbon fiber, which is a much bigger problem! Make small adjustments and test. You shouldn't need more than a quarter turn or so in most cases.

Q: 7. Which tripods does it work with? Anything with 75mm ball mount?

A: The Novoflex 18.9" Geared Center Column for TrioPod PRO75 Tripod System is really only made to work with Novoflex TrioPod PRO75 with 4-Section Carbon Fiber tripod, https://bhpho.to/3yePxrI .

Q: 8. where can i get the brake pads for the legs?

[Carbon Fiber] It is kind of hard to be excited about casters. They either work well or they don't. These work well. ... A note for first-timers: There is a right way and a wrong way to attach castors to a tripod. The correct way is to attach the casters so the flat surface of the brake mechanism over the wheel is perfectly parallel to the floor.

[Twist Lock] I was hesitant to buy these tripod legs since there is almost no information on the internet about them but, it seemed like the perfect travel tripod. Well, they have fulfilled all of my expectations! I attached a Manfrotto fluid head to the top and the whole tripod when collapsed measures just under 19 inches and weighs less than 4lbs. Their ball-leveling system is absolutely brilliant - its so much easier to use and with no tightening knob/handle underneath the bowl, the low angle possibilities with this tripod are awesome. I highly recommend this tripod to anyone who is looking to travel small and light without compromising on build quality and performance.

[4] These are great casters. Unfortunately, there are a couple of misleading negative reviews saying they don't work correctly. If you're having issues with the wheels spinning inward when you put weight on the stand, you're using the wrong type of stand. These are designed for traditional light stands ( B&H calls them general purpose stands ), NOT C-stands. The angle of the legs on C-stands is too steep to use these casters which is why there are casters made specifically for C-stands.

[Spiked] For some stands I need to wheel around the studio. Saves photographer wear and tear...!

[4] Loading heavy items on my heavy duty lightstands changes everything for a much better way to move the stand. I always wanted to try installing casters but I thought it would be a “process” to install and remove. It turns out that it’s a rather quick process.

It only involves 1 extra step which is sliding the lock plate inside and that’s it.

The wheels roll very smoothly even on a thick carpet (be sure to see the pictures I posted here) it features brakes and it can be easily engaged by stepping on them on and off positions. The wheels are satisfactorily large enough to roll smooth even with heavy loads such as a 2x1 LUXLI Taiko, an ARRI T2, etc.

ALSO, note that EACH stand brand and size, even if they are all 25mm legs, the LEG HEIGHT and POSITION on how you install is critical for proper install so the wheels are straight and aligned. (Again, see pictures!)

Very happy with these wheels.

[Twist Lock] I bought a set of these a few years ago for an Impact Heavy Duty Air-cushioned light stand with a boom and heavy lamp. The wheels fit fine, but no matter how much I tightened them they eventually flopped over. I was continually having to reset and tighten them, and finally just removed them. Fortunately I did not throw them away. In a what-if moment I thought about inserting a layer double sided tape in the caster leg recess. It worked perfectly, no sliding around at all. (I realized later that I could have more easily wrapped the stand leg instead of fitting the tape strip into the caster recess.) I have since purchased two more sets for two other identical Impact stands. Rather than using double sided tape I used Scotch Interior Mount tape to cover the the face of the chrome pressure plate. (Another reviewer suggested gaffer tape which may also work, but it is not sticky on both sides.) It works just as well as my previous remedy and is a lot easier than the regular double sided tape. I don't know about other brands, but I can highly recommend these casters for the Impact Heavy Duty light stand.

[Twist Lock] I got new heavy weight light stands (very pleased with them too) but obviously, to move a Key light (for example) with weights it would be an uncomfortable task. Enter the Impact Locking casters. Problem solved! Yes, you should read about how to set up your bottom light stand legs for the wheels to be leveled but I do not consider that a problem. On the contrary, it shortens the legs footprint which can be very large at full extension. Locking mechanism worked perfectly.

[1/4"-20 Male] If you have a Triopod, which is an exceptional tripod, you need this to make it a great tripod. A bit of fine height adjustment, just what it needed to make it even better. Highly recommended, as are all the Novoflex products, superb engineering, peerless machining, just perfect, and oh so useful in the field.

[Twist Lock] I haven't had a chance to test these legs out in varying circumstances, however, my first impressions indicate these legs are heavy duty and extremely sturdy. I like the quick release leg extenders and the fact this does not have a spreader. It functions easily and well. I plan to put this through heavy duty use and I will update this review if applicable.

[Carbon Fiber] I bought two sets of these primarily to add portability to my Impact Pro Backdrop Support kit (BG-PS440). Pleasantly surprised at how much heavier and more solid than I expected. Instructions were clear. Insert goes in with the peg at the bottom. No need to drill or otherwise modify the legs. They fit great and once I set the legs to the proper position, the casters were level and they rolled with ease. Brakes hold up as well. No slippage. It will make moving my backdrop around a shoot much easier when it is just me.

These also fit my Impact 6' Light Stand (LS-6B). However, the legs are a slightly smaller diameter, so I had to make sure these tightened all the way so they don't come off. Snug fit all around. Definite addition to my studio bag.
