The only downside would be filing it wherever you're traveling to. For example, using dry sand would have less than half the weight of the ballast material that the bag currently has inside.

[0.65 lb] This thing is a work of art and definitely well made. No shortcuts were taken. I am going to get the longer version just because. It works great with my Gator weighted stand and Rode NT1 to get the mic right where I need it. I have to also give a shoutout to BH as I have been ordering from them vs Amazon due to the fake reviews and the worry of counterfeit products. Sure, I have to wait an extra day or so for delivery but the peace of mind is well worth it. 5

[0.65 lb] The best microphone quick-disconnect I have used thus far. The method of attaching the removable part is very reliable that I have no worries using it with heavy/large/$$$ microphones. The orbital positioning is essential to get just the right angle/positioning of the microphone. Great product. 5
