The iFootage M1-III Mini Crane Jib Arm | Compact & Portablefrom iFootage M1-III Mini Crane Jib Arm | Compact & Portableis a compact, portable jib arm featuring lightweight carbon-fiber construction, a telescoping square-arm tube, and multiple mounting options. Its square tube design helps to minimize potential shaking during operation. The M1-III has a maximum payload of 33 lb in standard mode and 22 lb in low-angle mode. The main jib arm and the counterweight arm each have one telescoping stage (two sections) with locking thumb-lever knobs. Standard barbell weights (available separately) may be used as counterweights.

Mount your DSLR (or other small camera) on either of two included quick release plates: the M1 or the Motion X2. The M1 plate has both a flat camera plate and a ball mount, enabling use of a fluid head (with a 60 or 75mm ball). The Motion X2 plate is used with micro cameras or when using wide- angle lenses. Both the arm base and the camera base incorporate 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 holes for mounting accessories.

The adjustable tilt-damping knob, the tilt lock, and the pan drag function give you added control over your crane shots. For programmable moves, the M1-III can be used with the iFootage Motion X2 or other motion control systems.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could it be used with already owned 100mm ball head tripod legs

A: Yes you can use this crane with any set of 100mm ball tripod legs

Q: 2. Can you disable the auto leveling system and control the angle of the camera manually with this model?

A: To remove the auto-leveling system, you will have to remove the auto-leveling arm that is attached on top of the jib arm.

Q: 3. does this crane need a specific kind of tripod?

A: The base of the Pocket Jib has a 3/8 -16 screw hole so it will mount to the base of any standard tripod leg. You will just want to make sure the tripod you use is rated to support the total payload.

Q: 4. What length HDMI cable would I need to run from the DSLR to the monitor that is mounted to the Kessler Pocket Jib Traveller?

A: I don't have it mounted and open right now, but the specs here say 6' max extension from fulcrum, so I'm going to say you'd be safe with a 7-8' HDMI cable, right? You can always tie up the extra near the monitor which can attach to the base (near the fulcrum). If I were shopping for one (good idea, by the way) I would look for something flexible and light. Some of those HDMI cables are stiff and heavy. Good luck!

Q: 5. Does this come with the proaim power pack?

A: No. Only the following is enclosed with the purchase Proaim Alphabet 21' Jib/Crane Arm Assembly Hardware Carry Bag Limited 1-Year Warranty

Q: 6. Can the DJI RS3 be mounted onto this jib? If so, what accessories do you need?

A: If you wish to fly a DJI RS3 with a crane like the Proaim Alphabet 21' Jib/Crane Arm, you will will wind up with the Proaim 22' Fly Jib/Crane Kit with Dolly & Pan/Tilt Head BH #PRPFLY22PP • MFR #P-FLY-22-PP

Q: 7. What would you need to mount the ronin M in the upright position onto this?

A: You can hang the Ronin by attaching the CineMilled DJI Ronin M Quick Plate to the bottom of the crane's camera mounting plate.

Q: 8. can this Jib handle a Sony FS7?

A: This Jib is awesome but it is best used with a body with a short base as the attachment plate for the Jib is a little bit short. There is a possibility that your threaded hole is in a position that it would clear the arm when going up and down but I am not sure. We use it with our Panasonic AC90 and it just clears it. Use strong sticks though as the jib / tripod will wobble if the camera is too heavy. I hope this helps.

Q: 9. Does the jib come with everything you need to keep the camera perfectly level as you tilt up and down, or is there some other fitment that is needed to achieve this? Can I clamp a DSLR to the end of it, move it up and down and the camera will stay perfectly horizontal?

A: As long as you set the level first, you will achieve a level move. The jib is portable so you are limited to the move distance.

Q: 10. Does the maximum payload include the weight of the counterweights, or just the camera and head? Could the jib conceivably carry ~80lbs of combined payload of 30lbs of camera and head, along with the 50lbs (guess) of counterweight?

A: The max payload would be 44 lb for the Konova SUNJIB. This would not include counterweights. However, The optional tripod that carries the Jib and counterweights would need to be able to hold the total weight.

[39 x 9 x 5"] The unit is easy to mount and use and offers smooth motion. I'll be taking it to the field (literally, in Africa) in July, so I'll get a better sense then. But so far, so good. The only tricky thing is in repacking it in the case. Remember to turn the trim bar (you'll know when you see it) to angle the jib properly for packing up after the shoot.

[13 lb] THis is a really good purchase for the price if you want a portable, lightweight, sturdy indoor camera crane. It seems to move very well and is easy to assemble. The finish is very good and the quality is obvious. My only complaint is that when you add a fully loaded Ronin with SLR onto the end of the boom when it is extended to its longest length, it seems like the crane flexes more than it should with 15lbs of counterweight. However, if you add 22.5lbs of counterweight closer to the fulcrum, it seems to flex less with the shorter length of tube. I do believe that the load weight of 33lbs that the specifications suggest is the total weight of camera and counterweight rather than just the camera weight. I wish it was just a little bit stiffer.

[0-25°] For the price, this is the best jib you can buy. My Red Scarlet-W rig with matte box, follow focus, fluid head, etc is probably 20+ lbs and the iFootage holds it no problem. Small and light enough for travel, although the weights on the end can pose a problem with luggage weight.Very well made with keen attention to details. Feels sturdy and smooth. One thing to look for. My jib had a squeaking sound at first which was terrible for audio. Turns out, the bolt attaching the arm to the base was too tight. Loosened it, and no more noise and works great. I use it on some Manfrotto legs with these Tripod Wheels which makes moving around a breeze. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=manfrotto+tripod+wheels&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&typedValue=&Top+Nav-Search= The only thing I wish is that the up-down can be locked down. Theres a Tighten knob but it does not do much except add a bit of friction. Overall, excellent product.

[3.9' (1.2 m)] I received this product today and spent a little time setting it up and getting acquainted. I'm VERY impressed with the manufacturer's build quality and the attention to detail. I will be "field testing" it in the next coming days and I expect great results. I'd recommend this unit to anyone considering the purchase of a mini crane.

[8.4 lb (3.8 kg)] This jib held a 27lb unit with roughly 80lbs of counterweight and had no issues for normal operation. Setup was a little confusion and operation as well, but after figuring out how this system works we loved it.

[13 lb] I am a Videographer in Santa Clarita California.
It took me 3 years of searching for the perfect Jib, my initial choice was Varizoom but they got so ultra expensive that I started looking into Proaim 10' wave 2, tripod kit with pan and tilt head, I got to say I made the right choice, this jib is perfect for me, because I can shorten or extend the arm length with out extra pieces.
The build quality is great, very robust jib, no wobble whatsoever, I am buying a 6 inch mitchell extension at the tripod base, I think the tripod is a little shorter than I like, and I don't feel confident extending it higher, I think Proaim makes a tripod that can actually expand with no problem.
I highly recommend this product.
Blessings to you all.

[3.9' (1.2 m)] Great job. Quick and intuitive setup . Smooth movement and not very bouncy for a light jib. Used on a beauty commercial and still life shoot and very happy. Great value!
Only notes would be to change the weight and camera set screws to hand tighten fasteners, not thrilled about needing a tool to adjust but not a deal breaker.

[13 lb] I have this Wave 2 Jib Arm with Tripod, Dolly, Track, and both Track Wheels and the very large Caster Wheels and must say that this is an outstandingly great system. No regrets and no criticisms. Yes the mounting base requires a 100mm heavy duty tripod and suggest the Proaim one included in the package, (actually I have two of those tripods, and a Proaim Orion Geared Head and Tilting Base Plate) and am totally impressed with all of these products. Their equipment is beautifully designed and built.
I'm looking forward to getting some of their car mounts and more in the future. Great investments.
