Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is this a LED battery?

A: Four LED indicators are available to show the battery status. A speed-light is a flash unit, not continuous LED lighting.

Q: 2. I understand you still need to have batteries inside the flash (at least with Nikon flashes)so how much is the life of the internal batteries extended by also using an external battery such as the Quantum Turbo SC? And when the internal batteries are dead, the flash stops working, right?

A: I shoot weddings with Canon cameras and speedlites. Without the Turbo I would go thru a lot of AA batteries. I now use only two sets of 4-AA batteries -- I change them when I notice that recycle time is reduced.

Q: 3. Hi! I can used my SC with Sanyo Ni-Hm 2700

A: You can use Sanyo rechargeable AA batteries in a shoe mount flash while the Turbo SC battery is plugged into it.

Q: 4. Can I use this Quantum flash off camera with a Pocket Wizard?

A: no, you cannot!

Q: 5. will this trigger a flash connected to quantum radio slave 4i?

A: No, the flash has built into it a FreeXwire radio system. It is a different system than the Radio slave 4i.If you have a Canon speedlight you will need a kit with a Freeewire receiver, Quantum QLINK for Canon with Freewire Receiver Kit B&H # QUFWCR (B&H Kit).

Q: 6. How does this compare to the original Turbo Battery concerning capacity?

A: I have used other Quantum battery packs and this one seems to hold a charge roughly the same as the much larger versions, which should be plenty for just about any situation.

Q: 7. Will this work with Yongnuo 685? If so, what cables or cords do I need?

A: I am not familiar with the Yongnuo flash. As a former EK sales rep, I would say your customer's best bet would be to contact Turbo Customer Service direct. I can tell you that they do stress the importance of using the correct cord with the flash. Good luck.

Q: 8. From what I am reading this flash will not work in conjunction with my other Canon 600 EX-RT flash units using only the Canon RF system. So I cannot control this flash from my Canon 5D MarkIII in a group with other Canon 600 EX-RT Speedlites....Is that a correct statement?? I don't really want to buy another trigger to be able to control all my lights.

A: You are correct. Quantum's QFlash TRIO Flash uses Quantum's own FreeXwire radio system for wireless operation, and would not be compatible with the wireless radio system used by the Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite Flashes.

Q: 9. Hello do they work with the quantum QT flash?

A: This battery is compatible with the Quantum Q series flashes.

Q: 10. is it work with d750 nikon???

A: I've been using 2 Trios for Nikon on D750 and the Quantum Co-pilot for a few years with excellent results.

[0 to +90°] GOT THIS FLASH OVER THE HOLIDAYS AND WAS KINDA BUMMED BECAUSE THE CORD THAT CONNECTS TO THE BATTERY WAS FAULTY. I SENT THE CORD BACK TO QUANTUM AND THEY SENT ME A NEW ONE AND HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE. THE FLASH ITSELF IS IN A CLASS OF ITS OWN. GREAT INDOOR OR OUTDOOR WITH POWER TO SPARE. WOULD BUY ANOTHER IF I HAD MONEY TO BURN.

[1/1 to 1/32] I use 1 on camera and 2 on a bracket for radio FP sync or as stand alone speedlights. They work great with my T and X3-5DRs as well. Great light Quality with speedlight functionality but with more consistent output.

[0 to +90°] Easy setup for D3, D90, D3X, D2X and Trio recognized each other immediately. Display is clear and easy to read. First Quantum product I have ever owned and got it operational and taking great pictures without reading the manual in just a couple of minutes. Diffuser on the reflector gave even light distribution and allowed me to get very close to the subject with no blown highlights and great exposures. Colors seem to pop off the screen. Much more consistant TTL than Nikon SB800 or SB900. Those will now stay home when I am on assignment. Expensive, but worth every penny. I also bought a Quantum T5D-R and an FW7Q and again without reading the instructions got the two of them to do i-TTL exposures as well as manual and automatic. They recognized each other and work together to give great images. Turbo SC battery clips on belt and the Trio is lighter on the D3X than the SB800 or SB900.

[3.05 lb] I've just had this flash for a short time but love the versatility. This is not a cheap system but it is well thought out. You'll need to spend some time getting used to it but once you do you'll find it blows away the other speedlights.

[0 to +90°] Very easy to use. Thank you Quantum for another great piece of equipment. I use the Custom Bracket with my D200 with the Nikon SC29 cable. Which works great for elevating the TRIO above the lens slides right into the hot shoe. Makes my life easy.

[0 to +90°] I'm a wedding photographer and I burn through Speedlites constantly at receptions where the strobe is overheating due to the sheer volume of use. The Qflash is twice the money but it doesn't miss. For me it's worth the bigger size and having a battery strapped on to not miss the bride and groom coming down the isle because of recycling time. Great product just wish that it came in a smaller size. You can't have it all and it's worth the tradeoff.
