Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can i reuse the mixed chemical?

A: You should dispose of the developing mixture after using it once--using depleted developer will produce subpar results.

Q: 2. new to developing film. I have a question so if I am using this to develop one roll of tri-x film how much developer do I use with water? I am having trouble understanding the ratio when it says 1:9? And fixer?

A: I don't remember the water-to-developer ratio for Ilfosol, but using the 1:9 ratio you mention - 1:9 means 1 part developer to 9 parts water. So, when developing one roll of film, determine how much mixed developer you need - often you can find this info on the bottom of your developing tank - for example, my developing tank says I need 300ml to develop one roll of 35mm (135) film, so for this I would mix 30ml of developer with 270ml of water. As for fixer, the ratio of concentrate to water depends on which fixer you are using. I use Ilford Rapid Fixer, which is mixed at a 1:4 ratio (1 part concentrate to 4 parts water). So with the 300ml tank mentioned above, I would mix 60ml of fixer concentrate to 240ml of water. In my experience, with mixing ratios, the low number is the for the concentrate and the higher number is for water.Hope this helps and good luck.

Q: 3. Does the camera come with an instruction manual?

A: It does not include a full manual.

Q: 4. Can the camera be used to make multiple-exposure photos?

A: To take double exposure images with the Holga 120N Medium Format Film Camera (Black), take a shot, rewind the film to the beginning, and take another photo on top of the first image.

Q: 5. I'm having a hard time choosing between this one and the DD-X. I've seen some reviews that say the DD-X works great with 100-200 ISO films, so I'm not sure what this one offers that the DD-X doesn't have. What am I missing here? Thanks.

A: Ilford Ilfosol-3 Film Developer for Black and White Film is a bit more contrasting than Ilford Ilfosol-3 Film Developer for Black and White Film. The developer works best with film such as Pan-F, FP4 Plus and Delta 100 Professional and is not recommended if you are using replenish technics. On the other hand the Ilford ILFOTEC DD-X Developer can be used with high and low speed film because it has a smother transitions throughout all the tones producing easy print negatives.

Q: 6. considering that it's a liquid, are there any issues shipping internationally? (i live in brazil btw)

A: There currently are no shipping restrictions to Brazil.

Q: 7. How long does it survive after being opened?

A: When it starts to turn dark i no longer use it

Q: 8. Is there a pinhole option?

A: No.

Q: 9. Does this version of the Holga camera really have two f-stops? Or is the f-stop switch button just for show?

A: The 120N has a "cloudy" and "sunny" mode for f/8 or f/11 apertures.

Q: 10. What size filter ring?

A: The Holga 120N Medium Format Film does not have built-in filter threads.

[1000 (Images)] For my use as a darkroom OOTB RC paper, Ilford Cooltone is simply the best. If you are looking for warm tones, do not even try. Deep, black shadow and very white highlights, plus a terrific balance in the midtones, make this an outstanding paper for my photography. I shoot a lot of night and long-exposure. landscape/cityscape, nature and abstract images. I usually produce images rich in contrast but try to get all of the available tonal ranges in my imagery using traditional 35mm/120mm film. This paper just works well for me. Processing is easy. What you see is what you get once you've fixed and toned it. This RC paper tones very well. No darkening or changes in tone/contrast ever. Be careful with moving the paper from tray to tray - the paper will crease or fold in places if you are not a bit delicate in your processing. Bottom line is Ilford Cooltone RC is a really dependable and flexible paper for traditional darkroom printing for anyone, from beginner to pro.

[1000 (Images)] This printer has been around a year or so and the firmware updates are great and simple to preform. It is a solid(resin) preformer. Got it on sale and I do not see a better printer for the money. Uses open source software so you are not locked into any eco system. Any issues some have had in the past are fixed with the firmware updates. Mechanicaly sound and quiet. The wifi is a great addition; no usb sticks or cable needed.

[Wr] I've always used Cokin w/ my film 35 mm. Now I've graduated to DSLR and purchased a larger circumference lens that requires the Cokin Pro. I've added new filters to my collection too.
