The Radial Engineering Catapult TX4 is a four-channel snake which allows you to route four XLR connections across long distances using Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable, doing so with little to no signal degradation. As such, it's useful in live-sound reinforcement applications, as it allows live sound stage techs to use relatively affordable cable to secure quality audio connections around large stages and venues. It's also suitable for system contractors, who can now utilize pre-wired networks to move audio throughout disparate rooms.

The Catapult TX4 gives you four XLR input jacks, as well as four XLR transformer-balanced through-outputs for routing both analog or AES audio to other compatible sources. You'll also note the two RJ45-type Ethercon connections. One is an output, for use with the RX4 on the receiving end. The other is a thru-put, and can be implementing in routing signal to additional Catapults. A ground-lift switch helps eliminate any noise issues on the Cat 5 line, while a steel handle provides easy transport, and four bumpers protect the Ethernet jacks and ground-lift switch from wear and tear.

[140 dB] I bought this for the 300’ run from my location sound cart to the video village IFB transmitter. Camera department didn’t mind it living on their cart since it’s so small, and the transmitter end fits in mixer bag nicely. It’s robust, small, noiseless, and perfectly fit the bill for my application.

[+35 dBu] I used a pair of Catapult (TX + RX) to replace some long RCA cables. Not only does the flat CAT5 cable take up less space under the carpet, but now there is less hum and buzz because the balanced outputs can be used.

[+35 dBu] I use three of these for microphones on the top and bottom heads of my three tom toms. The sound is tight and totally in phase, unlike when I only close mic the top heads of each drum.

[100 Ohms] Like all Radial products this until could survive just about anything. The ability to select which mics are active, flip the phase and adjust the individual levels make this an invaluable tool for mic-ing tom toms top and bottom.

[100 Ohms] With all the new cameras that are coming out having only a switchable in or out timecode. This little unit is the answer to all my timecode issues. Not to mention the care and support that M.S.C. gives to their product.
