The only downside would be filing it wherever you're traveling to. For example, using dry sand would have less than half the weight of the ballast material that the bag currently has inside.

A: Yes. They are compatible. The IO-H2 5/8" Mounting Head from Triad-Orbit allows you to integrate 5/8" threaded gear to one of their IO-equipped stands or mounts, and is designed for added weight handling capacity.

A: Dear Chris,Thank you for your inquiry. Our Orbit booms are rated to hold up to 4lbs (2kgs) on each arm, with the boom arm fully extended and parallel with the ground, before it may start to lower. However, depending on how far you extend the extension tube and the angle that you position the arms, you may see a lower or higher capacity. [Ballast Bag] These are what I needed to use a couple of mike stands to support small secondary video camera. I like to have a second video camera running, even when I'm video along. These are useful when I don't want use a second large tripod. 5

[Hook & Loop] I bought the K&M 210/9 Tripod Microphone Stand with Telescoping Boom to use with my Sennheiser MKE 600 without realizing the end of the mic stand was a different thread system than the 1/4" thread I was expecting. This adapter worked perfectly and allowed me to mount my Sennheiser MKE 600 onto the mic stand. Bottom line: YES, if you need an adapter, this one works great! 5

[Shot] I keep these ballast bags close at hand. They are always on my tripod stands whether the mic is heavy or not. Just added insurance for those expensive microphones. 5

[Hook & Loop] I use this product to steady my tripod on exceptionally windy days. It prevents me from wasting a day's shoot when its windy. Although it adds substantial weight to my load out its has paid off several times. 5
