Designed for use with the TX4L, the Radial Engineering Catapult RX4L is a snake which accepts four channels of line-level signal over Cat5/Cat6 cables, and routes them into the eight XLR jacks provided. Four of the XLR channels are direct outputs, while the other four are isolated. The unit is useful in live-sound reinforcement applications, as it allows live sound stage techs to use relatively affordable cable to secure quality audio connections around large stages and venues. It’s also suitable for system contractors who can utilize the Catapult with pre-wired networks to move audio throughout disparate rooms.

In addition to the Catapult's XLR terminations, you’ll also note the two RJ45-type etherCON connections. One is a multi-channel input, for use with the TX4L on the transmission end. The other is a throughput, and can be implementing in routing signal to additional Catapults.

With three different destination pathways possible via the XLR banks and the etherCON throughput, you can split audio to multiple sources, if that's your desire. A ground-lift switch helps eliminate any noise issues on the Cat5/Cat6 line, while a steel handle provides easy transport, and four bumpers protect the Ethernet jacks and ground-lift switch from wear and tear.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could this unit be used to split clearcom or rts units?

A: This unit is meant to split audio only, and is wired differently than communication systems. We do carry a splitter for RTS, which is the Telex TW-5W 1 In, 5 Out Splitter Box, B&H # TETW5W.

Q: 2. Whats the meaning of surround output?and what is rec an line output used for?

A: The surround output on this amplifier sends power to a left, right, and center channel speaker. Record and line outputs are to bypass the amplifier and only send out signal.

Q: 3. Will this device transform isolation between balanced line output and unbalanced input?

A: Yes. In addition to reducing hum and noise, the Sescom IL-19-SS In-Line Audio Hum Eliminator will provide transformer isolation between a balanced line level output and an unbalanced line level input.

Q: 4. What is the appropriate connector to go from this to the 3.5mm mic input of my Cannon vixia g50?

A: To connect the output from the Shure A15LA Line Adapter to the mic input on a Canon Vixia HF G50 Camcorder, you will need a cable with XLR 3-pin female and 3.5mm TRS male connectors like the Kopul XRSM 3-Pin XLR Female to 3.5mm RA Stereo Mini-Plug Cable - 1.5' (B&H # KOXRSM015B) or any similar cable with these connectors in the length you prefer.

Q: 5. What's the difference between this and the IL-19 (no SS)?

A: The IL-19-SS and IL-19 In-Line Hum Eliminators are both intended for the same purpose and both units are constructed using ABS plastic housing. The difference between the two models is the dynamic structured shielding feature included on the IL-19-SS which can provide a better ground in certain setups that include older racks and cabinets.

Q: 6. Will this unit play .wav files from the USB stick?

A: Yes, the Technical Pro H1502URBT 5.2-Channel Audio Receiver can play .wav files from a USB drive.

Q: 7. Is it possible to use this in the headphone jack of a Scarlett solo 3rd gen to connect to a wireless headset?

A: Yes. The following unit has an onboard switch lets you choose whether the unit will transmit audio over Bluetooth to a Bluetooth-enabled speaker, headphone, or other device.

Q: 8. What is the latency? I need it for a subwoofer connection that needs to be in sync with the main speakers.

A: The Hosa IBT-402 is bluetooth 4.2, around 34ms.

Q: 9. Speaker resistance, ohm requirements.

A: Technical Pro does not provide that information. According to their site, the peak power is 1500 watts.

Q: 10. Will this item convert a line level signal (from the line output of a mixer) to mic in level for video camera? I have an Si Expression 3 mixer and JVC GV-LS2 Live Streaming Camera. It is my desire to feed live mixed audio into the JVC camera for HD recording to SDXC. The internal mic of the JVC leaves much to be desired in my application. Video is great, just want to use processed audio into the MIC in of the JVC...Thanks in advance!Kevin

A: This cable features circuitry on both audio channels to match the sweet spot level of your camera's mic input. It attenuates the incoming microphone signal. The -25dB provided at the mic input is not sufficient to convert a LINE output signal to the mic signal required by your camera.

[2.6 lb / 1.2 kg] I bought this for the 300’ run from my location sound cart to the video village IFB transmitter. Camera department didn’t mind it living on their cart since it’s so small, and the transmitter end fits in mixer bag nicely. It’s robust, small, noiseless, and perfectly fit the bill for my application.

[> 113 dB] I used a pair of Catapult (TX + RX) to replace some long RCA cables. Not only does the flat CAT5 cable take up less space under the carpet, but now there is less hum and buzz because the balanced outputs can be used.
