Able to support numerous brands and types of speedlights and flashes, the Cactus Wireless Flash Transceiver V6 IIs for Sonyis a versatile and capable flash trigger that offers added functionality to make remote flash work easier. This model is able to support Sony flash systems with ease and is equipped with Sony's Multi Interface Shoe for direct compatibility with their latest cameras and flashes. It uses 2.4 GHz radio communication to trigger other units from up to 328' away. The main advantage of the V6 IIs is high-speed sync, of which two modes are offered. A normal setting uses a protocol depending on the camera system involved whereas the Power Sync can boost the flash for moments when Normal HSS is not powerful enough.

Users will be able to set up flashes in one of sixteen channels or three groups. Also, it has a Multi-Master setting that allows multiple shooters to trigger the same flashes, useful for demonstrations or events with a second shooter. By using flash profiles to register specific speedlights, the V6 IIs gains a few capabilities, such as an Absolute Power Mode, which calculates the equivalent power settings between multiple flashes. Additionally, it has a TTL pass-through hot shoe on the top and offers a 3.5mm sync terminal for plugging into strobes and other lights.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the Cactus V6 II allow for 1/250 sync with manual OCF? I am not asking about HSS.

A: To clarify, will these V6 II's allow 1/250 sync using a Sony a7xxxx and an OCF?

Q: 2. Will this directly control a Sony F43M Flash (w/o a transceiver on the flash)? Or will I need a transceiver for both the camera and flash?

A: You would need two of the V6 II units in order to trigger your flash. One unit would act as the transmitter on top of your camera while the other fits on the bottom of your flash as a receiver.

Q: 3. I shoot with a Sony A7II & Sony Flash, if I have 2 of these transceivers one for the hot shoe & one for the flash will I be able to use the Cactus Wireless Remote to activate the shutter that plugs into the side of the camera? I want to overexpose windows & sliders by overexposing with a flash for window pulls in Ps. I shoot some large homes on the water with lots of windows & ocean views & need a wireless remote so I don't have to keep going back to the camera & set a 5 sec timer then run to the next window or slider.

A: I have exact same use-case, but with an A77Ii. You can set the camera mounted unit into 'relay' mode, and use it to trip shutter release via the remote unit. No separate additional remote needed. I just have 3 of these triggers.

Q: 4. I have a sony a6000 and a Metz 44 Af-1 flash. Will the Cactus v6 IIs work with the Metz 44AF-1?

A: As long as the Metz 44 AF-1 you have is for Sony Multi-Interface shoe cameras you should be fine.

Q: 5. Is this a rebranded Godox?

A: No, Cactus is a brand of its own.

Q: 6. Obviously this will work with Sony. My question is do I need two (2) of these to make the system work? 1 for the camera body (Sony a6300) and one for the flash (Sony F43M)? Also, will I need any additional chords for anything?

A: You need two units - either one can be a transmitter or receiver, as there is a switch on each unit. No extra cords needed if you have the Mi shoe on the flash... I'm using three of these - one on-camera, and two on my flashes.

Q: 7. Is this for Sony A Mount or E mount or both?

A: This transceiver works with any Sony A mount DSLR or Sony E mount mirrorless camera with the Multi-Interface Shoe. The top shoe accepts all Sony flashes with the Multi-Interface Shoe as well.

Q: 8. Hi. I shoot Sony and Nikon. Will I be able to use the v6iis on my Nikon and still get ttl and hss?

A: I use the iis on my Sony to trigger a ii that is on a canon flash with hss but I believe the iis will only work on the Sony camera as it has different pattern hot shoe

Q: 9. I want to use a standard shoe flash (Yongnuo 568) with my sony A7. If I get a cactus V6iis for the Body and a cactus V6ii for te flash,it will work? and will be able to use high speed sync?

A: I am using the A7II with Cactus V6iis trigger and a Cactus RF60 flash. It does do HSS. I had Yongnuo previously and found it to be dependable. This combo fires 99% of time for me. Hope this helps.

Q: 10. will this trigger with the sony multi interface shoe work with v6 versions 1?

A: Yes this transceiver is compatible with the Cactus V6.

[Hot Shoe] Great product. Well finished. Finally SONY users have a radio trigger with all functions like High Speed Sync (Normal HSS and Power Sync), remote control of flash power and head zoom, remote AF light, etc. Also the V6IIs includes features like the remote shutter (additional cable needed), Relay mode, Sport Shutter mode (Additional cable needed), etc. Great that the Firmware can be updated via USB cable. To avoid zebra stripes on HSS you need to turn off the e-Front electronic curtain. I am really happy with my units.

[16] A co-worker has had the Cactus V6 for a while. When I wanted to upgrade from my dumb triggers these were the obvious choice. Works easily with the other Cactus triggers, and it's nice having all the same interface. The only downside is the Sony shoe prevents you from sliding it onto a standard cold shoe for light stands. I had a Hot Shoe to 1/4-20 Male Post Adapter and it screws into the 1/4-20 socket on the bottom of all Cactus flash.

[Hot Shoe] I use this to control my two Canon 430EX strobes from my Sony A7R ii. I was really impressed how seamlessly the strobes integrate with the camera. I am able to control focal width and power on the strobes remotely from the unit on the camera and they sync without a problem beyond the 1/250s max flash sync speed the camera has when connected directly to a strobe. I've tried it down to 1/2000s without a hitch (it may go faster, I just haven't tried it). I have not experienced any glitches in the connection between transmitter/receiver. The only downside is the small delay between pressing the trigger and the shutter actually going off but I can live with that.

[4.8 x 4.2 x 3"] Yes, with the new X-TTL firmware (available at no extra charge) now you have remote TTL to your off-camera flashes. Notice that the TTL compatible Cactus flash is the RF-60X (Updated to the latest firmware version). Remote TTL is working like charm with SONY flashes. Also, you can mix TTL and Manual flashes on same arrangement. Just use different groups for TTL and Manual flashes.

[4.8 x 4.2 x 3"] This product and its receivers works flawlessly with my Canon 5D Mk III and all my flashes, which range from 25-plus-years old Sunpaks to my Canon 600ES-RT. The receivers screw onto a standard light stand umbrella holder and the flashes slip into the receivers hot shoes, making for easily transportable lighting setups for studio and remote photo sessions. I could not be happier with these Vello units.

[16] I originally bought this in hopes to use it with the Miops trigger remote laser function, then realized I didn’t need the Miops at all. Win win as the LV5 is only a fraction of the cost. Not to downplay Miops Trigger, there’s a ton of features on there that can’t be matched. But all in all, the LV5 is a great tool if your looking to automate your shoots.
Pros:
Inexpensive
Easy to use (Laser alignment is very forgiving)
Nice construction and build
Doesn’t miss a beat

Cons:
Short cable (recommend a extension cord for your hook up if you plan on shooting with the receiver off camera. )
