Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I do loop back recording? Where I can record a vocal in real time over a karaoke track played from a web browser or media player.

A: Unfortunately you cannot it's a mixer not a recorder.

Q: 2. Hi what is the power adapter you supply for this one - is it universal? (We need 220-240)

A: The power supply included with this product is not universal. Compatible with 120 VAC only.

Q: 3. Does it come with rack mount kit?

A: Yes it does!

Q: 4. I have an sm57 with very low output. Will this be enough to drive it? The 2i2, m-track and ur22 were not. Thanks.

A: The Yamaha MG10XU should work fine with an SM 57. Its hard to tell as I cant see how you have hooked things up and what is going on. But you should have no problem with that mixer and the 57. The first thing to check is phantom power off as that is a dynamic mic. The next thing to do is bring up the mic pre level to almost 12 oclock. Before you even touch the fader. Its the white knob that says gain. Make sure the switch is in mic and not line and the 20-dB pad is not engaged. Also make sure the main volume on the mixer is up.

Q: 5. Does anyone know were you can order a replacement antenna? The antenna broke on my ui 12 mixer.

A: Isn't this the replacement on BnH? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1096529-REG/tp_link_tl_ant2408cl_indoor_omni_directional_antenna.html

Q: 6. Does the interface works on mac.what should I do to use it

A: yes, just plug the usb cable on the mixer and your mac, and on sound preferences select input and output MG10XU

Q: 7. Can You Record While Playing live On To A Recorder?

A: Yes, you can connect the output from the Yamaha MG10XU Mixer to an audio recorder to record a live performance. You can also record directly to a Mac or Windows computer, or to an iPad using the mixer's built-in USB audio interface.

Q: 8. Is it possible to hook up this mixer to my a/v receiver (Denon AVR-4308CI) which I already connect to speakers? and how? Thanks

A: Yes, the Yamaha MG10XU could be connected to an AV receiver. You could connect the stereo outputs of the MG10XU to one of the receiver's audio inputs with a 1/4" to RCA stereo cable such as BH #HOHPR003X2.

Q: 9. No Hi-Z switch for any of the inputs--therefore, I can't/shouldn't plug an electric guitar or bass directly into this mixer; I should use a 'direct box'--am I understanding that correctly? Thanks.

A: That is correct. Since there is no Hi-Z switch on this mixer a direct box would be required to plug a guitar or bass into it. Here's a solid DI option B&H # RAPRODI.

Q: 10. Will this mixer power high impedance headphones such as the sennheiser hd650's ?

A: The headphone output on the Yamaha MG10XU will cater to headphones with a nominal impedance of 40 ohms. Because the HD650's are 300 ohms, the use of an external headphone amplifier will be beneficial and recommended.

[22 x 15 x 15"] I use it for videotaping when I need only a few mics or if I am getting a feed from the venue. It has enough features to make it flexible and the size makes it ideal for travel and set up. It has saved me many times when audio has been difficult.

[(1 kHz): -85 dB] Finally replaced my old Shure Brothers mixer from the 1970's with a modern one. The Shure Brothers was built well and is still in service somewhere but this new Yamaha is so loaded with features and handy connections it had to take center stage. I use it in my home studio to record radio skits. Just right for my purposes: clean sound, lots of controls and streamline design.

[+48 V] Very good mixer! Solid, well-built, and very quiet; everything you need and nothing you don't. We purchased it for use in a church kids' loft, and it performs like a champ. Excellent job, Yamaha.

[26 lb] I'm in radio and, while COVID-19 is taking its course, I'm producing voice spots for automation upload in a converted bedroom closet voice-over booth. The small mixer I started with a couple months ago, a Mackie 402VLZ4, worked well enough amplifying my Aston Stealth mic, but the headphone section on that one refused to drive even the most efficient set of cans beyond a whisper. This was surprising, since that was never a problem with previous/larger Mackies I've owned.

The station briefly loaned me some specialized equipment for remote live broadcasting experiments and included in that package was a Yamaha MG10 mixer. Not only did the mic pres sound great on that one, but I could actually hear myself clearly through the 'phones. So, I took a chance and ordered an MG06 for myself.

I'm happy to report that the MG06 has the same excellent sound of the MG10 and, yes, the headphone section allows you to actually hear yourself - or whatever else you happen to be recording - loud and clear. When we get back to the point where live concerts are common again (I moonlight by making XY stereo recordings of chamber music for friends in nice acoustical spaces,) I'm anxious to hear what the MG06 will do there.

The other criteria important to me is the ability to run my gear off battery power at times. While the larger MG10 needs 18VAC and would require an outboard inverter to go untethered, the smaller MG06 is 12VDC and can easily mate with any reasonably-sized lithium battery power bank. Phantom power on the MG06 is also, apparently, a full 48V. There much to like here in a clean-sounding and well-built package at a bargain price.
