The only change I made to my setup was I changed the Mac refresh rate to 60hz down from 75.

[12 DC] I have been using a pair of these for two 1K monitors switching between Windows (at first W7 and now W10) and Linux (Kubuntu) for several years now. I have never had much of a problem with them. I have always used a wired keyboard with them which suits my needs since I use it on a desktop. I have also always used a Logitech M510 wireless mouse with them and that worked perfectly, including forward/back side buttons which I use frequently in Linux to switch between virtual desktops. I have never had to touch the settings in the KVM, which means mouse emulation has always been on.


However, one of them died, sort of. It got worse and worse. I think they must have some kind of low power processor in them that deals with them mouse emulation and keyboard functions. I could no longer communicate with it via the keyboard nor did my scroll wheel or side buttons work on the mouse. Intermittently at first, but permanently at the end. I switched the KM part of the KVM to the other one which still worked fine.


I had trouble finding a replacement at some of the other big sites where you might expect to get them, but was happy to see the B&H had them in stock. And, as usual the shipping was prompt. The replacement works perfectly. I expect to get another bunch of years of service from it.

I wanted to switch between the two. I wound up calling B&H and got a well versed customer assistant.

[0.6 A] I used this for a tight environment where a server was right up close with a video-camera monitoring system. This device makes it really easy to leave the cameras up, and just switch over to the server when I need to work on it. The small remote-button can be placed where it's convenient, instead of having to figure out how to get the KVM itself to be placed where it's reachable. I've bought several of these, over the past few years, and am always happy with them.

[0 to 80% RH] This KVM offers simple setup, easy switching, and excellent quality. Opening the box I found the product to be well built and all the cables seem to be of above average quality. All the cables appear to be very flexible as my 2 windows Pc's are in a kind of an awkward position, I was impress I could maneuver the cables with ease. The simple control switch is easy to use and the ability to switch between the 2 pcs is excellent. I was getting some screen flicker with when connected to one computer but discovered I forgot to tighten the one vga cable. Not the units fault but user error. Once everything was snug it worked perfectly.

[2.3 lb / 1.1 kg] The IOGEAR KVM works flawlessly with my 2 PCs. One PC has the DisplayPort, while the other has the HDMI port. The included KVM/DisplayPort makes connecting the 2 PCs so easy. It's particularly handy with the remote to switch PC. The remote with more than enough wire to mount very conveniently near my keyboard.

[4] Having compared prices between this KVM with others, I was taking a risk by not knowing will this switch validate such a price gap from its cheaper competitors.
Outcome? Well worth it! As instructed, I used wired connections for my keyboard and mouse and everything connected without a problem. The switch easily and quickly moves between my four computers (3 PCs and 1 Mac). The keys and mouse as well as video perform perfectly.
When I had to reconfigure my office everything had to be unplugged. When I set everything back up, my monitor displayed "HDMI Out of Range" for all my computers. Not good. Went on to the website and found an excellent video that instructed me on how to reset my switch. I followed the video's very clear audio/visual instructions and everything works again!
Thanks Startech for making a very good product that met the expectations I had with its price. Then, also for putting together an excellent website with the resources needed to allow me to correct my problem.

[0 to 80% RH] I bought this cable switch and it worked great. I had to buy another because my cat gnawed through the thickest cable. The second cable works great also.
