A: I bought mine in Sept of 2016 and have had it in salt water probably over 60 times. I have never rinsed it off and never wiped it down. Admittedly, I'm pretty tough on my gear and killed 3 previous tripods. B&H recommended this one, so I took a chance on it and LOVE it. Even after everything I had put it through, it works like the day I bought it. I did loose a rubber foot somewhere in Hawaii (oh ya, I even shot the lava with it) and had to have it replaced. But that's it. I look at tripods 2 and 3 times more expensive than this one and thought that I need to spend that kind of money to get a good one. A: One of the great advantages of today's digital cameras is the very high ISO ratings they have. With these high ISO's, you can shoot at a commensurate high shutter speed. Shooting at 1000, 2000, 3000 shutter speed should negate mild and even moderate shake. Of course, if you have a muscular condition that creates more than a moderate shake, then yes, I think this is a good suggestion. It is light, compact even with the three little legs. It will be good even on board ship. Of course, you will not need it for the helicopter or dog sled. I would also recommend a monopod head. This will allow tilt up and down while the monopod is up and down with the legs deployed. Here is a affordable one: Oben VH-R2 Tilt Head for Monopods B&H # OBVHR2. Here is a mid level quality example: Induro TH2 Tilt Head for Monopods B&H # INTH2. Both of these heads have Arca-Swiss type quick releases.
