A: This phone is not listed by RODE to be compatible.

Q: 5. Can I plug it to ipad mini 2 and record video when playing violin? Clip to violin tailpiece or near of the bridge?

A: We use this Rode mic for all our videos. We even use a 6' extension made for Apple products, we use this mic on our iPads (Mini, Air & Pro) we even use it on our iPhones. Then we edit on iMovie, all videos shot on separate IOS devices get airdropped to our iPad Pro for edit. Audio quality is great.

Q: 6. Can you monitor the recording via Bluetooth headphones connected to the phone? Particularly iPhones, but any insight is welcome.

A: You would need the Rode SC6 to be able to monitor your recording while using the Rode Smartlav in a smartphone.

Q: 7. Will the mic work with a the Sennheiser 100 ew body pack?

A: Yes

Q: 8. Is there an adapter so I can plug this mic into XLR device instead of USB ?

A: The C01U Pro outputs digital audio via USB to a computer only. Unfortunately no way to adapt to XLR or other analog audio connection.

Q: 9. Can I use the Mic to broadcast media e.g. Periscope. Or to record video on my phone?

A: Yes the smartlav+ does become the default audio device when connected to the iPhone, so it works fine with Periscope and other apps such as the native Video app. We have uploaded a few videos showing the smartlav+ being used for Periscope on the RDE Youtube channel.

Q: 10. If I bought a splitter and plugged two of these in would my iPhone record the audio from both?

A: Into one channel yes. The RDE SC6 is the adaptor we make that gives you two inputs and also a headphone out for using the smartlav.

[Supercardioid] Compared this C7 to the Shure Beta 87. Specs show it has more output, slightly flatter response, tighter supercardiod pattern, quieter noise floor and higher max SPL for the same retail price. I'm not disappointed. This is a great sounding mic. To check the pickup pattern I spoke into it and rotated it through 180 degrees from front to back and watch the meters on the mixer. For voice, it starts dropping at about 45 degrees from front and center and by the time I got to 90 degrees I was down by more than 30 db. From behind it was down another 5db again, but it was an unscientific test so probably was picking up room reflections. Using it at graduation to pick up audio for video it did a really good job of rejecting the room speakers and noise...it almost behaved like a shotgun mic. In my opinion, it's a better mic than the Beta 87 and has excellent sound quality and feedback rejection characteristics. It's an attractive mic, too. I plan to buy more. 5

[Black] I have a unit for one year and have been using it for all vocal recordings (in my home stutio) for my band since then. It's no surprise for me that it's capsule is known as "refference". Since it's the best mic I own, I avoid bringing it to the road, but I have used if a couple times in reharsals and the result was just spectacular. I experienced a great sound capture with NO FEEDBACK AT ALL even in moments when I was closer to the speakers than I should. My advice is: If you want a dynamic to make you impressed with a studio-like quality in live situations, just buy it! 5

[Phantom Power] Great mic with great sound for the price. I have 6 of them now. I use them as overheads for drums, guitar amps, and also as choir mics. I only had to perform a couple of EQ curves. Understand it's not just the mic that needs to sound good. The preamp, mixing console, amps, speaker system and room acoustics all play a role in the overall sound. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. 5

[Black] The SR117 was marketed on its strength at rejecting plosives. ...It's not great at it, at best it's as good as a standard stage dynamic. SO there's no special sauce. However, you might be able to mitigate with aggressive use of a low cut. However, beyond that, I really like this mic because it is very much a blank canvas, it can take EQ extremely well and can give you some of that studio mic tone in a handheld. 5

[Mono] I bought it 10 months ago and I love the sound quality, it has a bright sound on 6khz it gives your vocals air when recording. I also use focusrite interface. 5
