Designed as an ideal optic for wide-view astronomical or long-range terrestrial observation, the Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Pro Binoculars Kitfeature a proprietary XLT multicoating system to reduce reflection and increase light transmission through the entire optical system. The porro prism configuration provides a rich depth of view and high contrast to draw users into an immersive observational experience. The combination of optical coatings, prism, and oversized 70mm objectives produces high-contrast views that are bright and crisp with accurate color fidelity.

To help reduce weight, the binoculars' housing is made from a combination of polycarbonate polymer and aluminum. The aluminum provides strength in key areas, while the polycarbonate is temperature resistant to limit expansion and contraction in extreme temperatures, which can cause the optical components to move out of collimation and prevent the ability to achieve sharp focus. Large objectives and long optical tubes make the SkyMaster Pro binoculars fairly heavy with a center of gravity biased forward, so hand-holding may cause fatigue and noticeable hand shake. A tripod adapter is incuded, with a detachable rail for a red-dot finderscope. To handle a wide range of environments, the optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be fog and waterproof.

A: The Celestron 20x80 SkyMaster Pro ED Binoculars are brighter and have more magnification than the Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Pro ED Binoculars, and are better for "Astro Viewing"; users will agree. The biggest challenge using the Celestron 20x80 SkyMaster Pro ED Binoculars, is to make sure the tripod that is keeping the image steady is secure.

Q: 3. How much does it weight?

A: This item weighs 5.4 lb / 2.45 kg.

Q: 5. Has anyone had the problem with the Celeston 15x70 Skymaster not being collomated? I saw the procedure on youtube and it does not look easy to do. I really don't want to go through this hassle.

A: Yes, I have this issue. I tired adjusting per the video with unsatisfactory results; I still have a second ghost image. I've used these to observe a model airplane stuck in a tree only. These are not for serious viewing.

Q: 6. Sorry but I have another question for you guys.... What is the best binoculars to view planets? And what is the best binoculars to look out over the ocean from a balcony? Sorry this is really 2 question.... Thanks everyone!

A: In this price bracket the Celestron 20x80 SkyMaster Pro Binoculars BH #CE20X81SM • MFR #72031 are ideal...As I said before any magnification over 12X will be impossible to hand hold. A tripod will be necessary.

Q: 7. Everyone is saying that these binoculars are really heavy, however its only 1.5 kg. Does it become very uncomfortable for a binocular, or is there add on weight?

A: I dont consider binoculars heavy. I normally have them mounted on tripod. When not the little extra weight helps steady them. Good buy for the money. I have recommended to a couple friends.

Q: 8. Does it comes with a tripod adapter?

A: Built-In Standard 1/4"-20 Tripod Mount.

Q: 9. Can the collimation be adjusted if needed?

A: Yes, however you would need to send the model into Celestron to do this. They would offer this Service.

Q: 10. I cannot adjust my Binoculars for clarity?

A: Yes, it has a middle focusing wheel, & of course a diopter.

[4.6 mm] These are the first astronomy binoculars I've bought, so I don't have anything to compare them to other than the (still fun!) 8x42 birding binocs i have. Since I didn't have the experience to know exactly what to look for, I did a lot of googling before i settled on these. They work great! I can see the orion nebula, the moon's landscape, i was even able to see the 4 big moons of jupiter! I live in a fairly rural area with pretty minimal light pollution, and jupiter's moons were definitely at the upper limit of what these binocs could see, but i wasn't expecting to see them at all so that was pretty exciting. They aren't light, but the only tripod i have is for a camera, and the binocs are too heavy for it if they're pointed very far up in the sky. So i mostly have been using them hand-held until i can get a good tripod, and that's actually surprisingly manageable, especially if i brace them on a fence or on my body to cut down on the wiggles. Also, I wear glasses, and have no problem with the eye relief. All in all a really great buy for a beginner! I only wish the carrying bag came with a few pockets for the extra eye cups and other small bits that come with the binocs.

[6.9 lb] Very well built and the views are sharp and very contrasty. Very little CA when viewing the moon which is a big plus. Overall, these are a keeper.

[15x] There are no words, when you go out and see the night sky youll understand. I read they were heavy. I have little problem holding them for 20 minutes, but if thats a problem they can go on a tripod. I read it was difficult not to shake because of the high magnification and weight. True, but you can lean on a tree or lie on the floor and it helps a lot, or you can put them on the tripod. Ive read many recommend 10x50 instead. That depends on what you want to do and personal taste, of course. I do have 10x50 binos but I prefer these 15x70, especially in the winter when I cant bring out my telescope because of all the snow and ice. Their 15x magnification is great when you dont have a telescope. And best of all, it only takes seconds to take them out. I can easily do it everyday and follow Venuschanging phases or Jupiters moons move. Sometimes I just use them for 5 minutes quickly. I cant really do that with my telescope. I can usually bring it out only once or twice a week at home at most. These I can bring with me anywhere. They are particularly good with large open clusters like Pleiades, the Beehive or Hyades. Viewing these with binoculars is much better than with a telescope. Their big aperture allows you to see fainter objects like M81 galaxy in Ursa Major or M13 globular cluster in Hercules. These I have seen in my light polluted neighbourhood near downtown Montreal. I havent had the chance to go to a dark site. I would strongly recommend any new astronomer to get some quality binoculars, perhaps even before you get a telescope. They are much easier to use and much much easier to know what you are looking at when you look through the lenses. Up is up and left is actually left and you can view all of Orions belt as opposed to only one star at a time and easily scan it surroundings within seconds. I had no problem with shipping and they didnt have collimation issues. Worth every dollar.

[15x] The 15x70 Celestrons, as has been stated by a real binocular expert, compare favorably with Fujinon's 16x70s. Hard to sallow, as one usually does get what one pays for, but take that gentleman for his word, the Skymaster 15x70s are plain outstanding, little or nothing to complain about. You could buy a number of these, one for everybody likely to use them of course, on your holiday shopping list, and not go wrong!

[4.6 mm] i also have the celestron 20x80 skymaster pros...both are superb...bought the smaller ones because they can be used hand held whereas the larger ones need a tripod, even for someone quite strong...anyway the clarity is excellent as is the light gathering...great for the price...
