The Easyrig Vario 5 Strong Gimbal Rig Vest Standard Armis a body-worn support system that is adjustable to support camera rigs weighing 22 to 55 lb. The system works by using a suspension line to support the weight of the gimbal rig, taking the load off your shoulder, neck, and arm muscles and distributing it across your torso. The tension line is adjustable by turning a screw in the back, letting you dial in the appropriate amount of tension for your rig. The system consists of the Gimbal Rig vest, a Vario 5 Strong support bar, and a standard support arm. As the name suggests, the Gimbal Rig vest is optimized for use with motorized gimbal stabilizers, providing increased lower back support that allows you to carry weights further away from your body. A carrying bag is also included for convenient storage and transport of the Easyrig system.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would you recommend this easyrig for a movi pro and a light Red camera setup? Or which easyrig would be more appropriate?

A: The Minimax has an operating load of 2-7kg ( 4.4 -15.4lbs). As long as your complete load out ( camera, gimbal, batteries, lens & accessories ) does not exceed the max recommended load you will be able to work with the system.

Q: 2. Can it safely strap to the SMALLRIG NATO Rail Handle 1955?

A: The camera top handle clamp can attach itself around the SmallRig DSLR Action NATO Handle B&H # SM1955 .

Q: 3. Will this work with my Glidecam HD-2000 stabilization unit? I wasn't sure if the arm mount would fit in the grip hole of the HD-2000...

A: Absolutely will. I use it this way.

Q: 4. So you are advising us if we own a Steady Cam solo not to buy this Vest and Arm? BEST ANSWER: This arm and vest kit is made for the DNA line of Glide Gear stabilizers. You might be able to use other systems with it, however we do not advise it. The DNA 5050 would work very well on this unit.

A: For for Steadicam-type stabilizers, we suggest keeping the vest, arms and sleds in the family since they are all meant to work together. This is easier for those operators starting out. Now historically, the Steadicam, the invention of a tinkerer, has always engendered mixing and matching and moding. If you wish to do so, you are of course free to do what you wish. However, since the permutations are endless, we cannot vouch for the efficacy of what ever combination you are considering.

Q: 5. does it work with WEEBILL S?

A: It will not. We recommend this product instead from Digitalfoto Solutions. https://bhpho.to/3eGpH6z

Q: 6. Does this vest accommodate for tall people? 6'+?

A: I'm 6'2 and it works great. You can adjust the bar to be a little taller if need be.

Q: 7. is the max weight on this 19 or 15 pounds? The manufacture site says 15 but here it says 19

A: The manufacurer's representatives recently told us 19 lbs. during a live demonstration at the B&H offices and store.

Q: 8. Will this work with the DJI RS2?

A: Yes, it will work with DJI RS2.

Q: 9. Just wanted to ask for some feedback from users. If you had to choose only one, would you choose this or a vest steadicam?

A: Depending on the camera setup and the intention of the shooter, either stabilizer style can excel in production. If you are looking to lighten your overall load with a more handheld-like feel, the Easyrigs are a good solution. If you want a more characteristically cinematic shot I would recommend an arm/vest setup. Personal preference comes into play as well. The design of the Easyrig may not be ideal for certain indoor shots, whereas a arm/vest setup is usually a bit heavier and takes more practice to use effectively.

Q: 10. Hello all, will this work with a Axler Robin Pro 40 Stabilizer L?

A: No, this will not work with the Axler Robin Pro 40. The DNA 6000 is configured for a 10lbs load capacity, where as the Axler Robin is capable of carrying 15lbs at it's most. This is not a recommended combination as the place where the Axler is in this setup should always have the lowest weight capacity compared to the vest and arm.

[21.65 lb] I love this easyrig, have had it out on several shoots now and can say confidently it's an outstanding piece of equipment. Saves my back, hands and arms from fatigue and potential injury. The quick release works perfect and inspires confidence with an audible snap-in when it secures, seems bulletproof to me. This is perfect for on-the-go filming situations when time is at a premium, and helps create a nice tamed natural hand-held look when handled correctly. One observation I've had is this becomes pretty difficult to manage in a high wind situation when shooting outdoors, as the pole gets blown around and you really have to fight the jerking/swaying it creates. Otherwise, no significant qualms and I'm glad to have finally picked this up!

[Vest System] I have been the this business for over 30 years. Back in the day cameras were big and heavy. I was also a lot younger. As cameras became smaller and lighter it extended my ability to shoot. However I recently moved up to a Sony PXW-FS7 with a prime lens, mattbox, and a lot of other stuff piled on it that brought the weight up to about 24lbs. So needless to say I needed something to help support it. I looked at all kinds of under support braces and saw the Easyrigbeing demonstrated at NAB this year and thought that looks like my solution. I emailed the company in Sweeden because I was not sure which rig would be best for me. I got a response the next day. A day later I had the rig. Within 10 minutes of the UPS delivery I had it on and was testing it out. It basically comes ready to go. As advertised it completely distributes the weight throughout the rig. you can place the camera at any point around you and it will stay. There would be no way I could ever shoot hand held without this rig. It does take a little getting used to, moving around tight spaces things like that. Make no mistake, you do feel the weight, but its well distributed. Great product.

[Vest System] After years of renting Easy Rigs, dealing w/ the uneasy feeling knowing that other people probably sweat in them as much as I do and not knowing how good the rental houses clean these things, I finally got around to investing in one of these. Perfect for low mode where it can hold the camera weight chest height or lower, or static shoulder shots to give the shoulder a break. I've used this countless times over the years and finally got one. Should have done it sooner. Now I gotta save up for the Stabil arm

[21.65 lb] Have used now on four shoots, two all-day hand held, two Movi. At 45, I have back pain on almost any shoot where I have to go handheld for over 15 minutes with my large camera package. I had tried other rigs for the Movi, but never fully evading the 'end of the day discomfort' that was sure to show up. This package changed all of that. Of all the gear I've bought over the years, this has to be my best purchase.

The impact was immediate... walked away from two 14 hour days with zero pain or stiffness. Next shoot, Stabil arm worked so well with my Movi walk-and-talk, again.. no back pain.

The quality and build of this rig is top notch. Nothing overlooked, no expense spared with build quality. And to top it off... takes seconds to 'rig up' with the help of the easy lock waist belt. If I was hot, I'd easily take it off between setups. I could rig-up as late as talent walking to set which is something I could never do before with the movi and other setups.

Bottom line, this rig is an investment in your future as a DP if you suffer from any kind of back pain. Wish I had purchased 10 years ago.

[21.65 lb] Unless you're renting in LA or NYC, it's nearly impossible to find a Vario 5 with a small operator vest. I'm 5'6, medium build (34 waist), and still need to tightly strap up on this rig. That tells me it'll fit someone taller and bigger than me. This rig is perfect for larger/heavier camera rigs and a Movi Pro. Fitted correctly, you don't feel any of the weight and I can see it working well with female operators as well.

One thing Easyrig doesn't really make clear and immensely valuable to me is:

The rig can quickly be raised and lowered about 5-6 inches. That might not seem like a lot but I'm short at 5'6 and the increased arm height allows me to raise the camera/Movi to film taller people without having to shoot up at them. It's just 4 screws that can be quickly adjusted within 2 minutes.

Finding a proper hard case to fly with this rig is not easy/cheap. BUT the vest can be easily separated from the arm in order to make the entire rig smaller and portable. Just takes adjusting the same 4 screws. Also helpful if you want to throw on a standard/larger vest for other operators.

The Serene Arm is amazing. Paired with a Movi/Ronin, proper handling, and rolling your steps, you can get some amazingly smooth footage. Remember to adjust the tension of your Serene Arm so it's parallel to the ground. Also remember to loosen the Serene Arm while traveling so you can safely bend it and make your rig smaller for packing.

[21.65 lb] This is great for a cinema style camera build. I fly a Arri Amira with zoom lenses, FIZ and teradek, so something in the 25lb range. This system allows for me to go hand held all day with minimal effort. I'm a large guy, 220lbs and 6' tall, and the cinema 3 vest fits me just fine with plenty of room for larger guys. These things are built like tanks, you can zip tie the bag shut and check it on airlines no problem.

Easyrigs are basically career extenders that save your back.

[21.65 lb] Absolutely LOVE this thing. Takes some getting used to, but man. Once I got used to it and got it setup correctly, I noticed that I was able to focus on filming and worry less about arm and shoulder strain/pain. Being able to just work and get the shots needed is a huge benefit. I totally recommend any serious vidoegrapher/filmmaker investing in an Easyrig! Just make sure you know the weight ratings.
