Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible to angle the boom straight up in the air, if you needed more height, but wanted the option of sometimes using the boom arm?

A: Yes, the LATCH LAKE micKing 2200 Boom Microphone Stand can be used with the boom arm positioned straight up to achieve more height.

Q: 2. What is the thread size? What is the depth of of the female thread?

A: The only female thread on this item is that of the screw-down mechanism (thumb screw) mentioned in the overview and clearly pictured. Those threads are M6x1.0 and about 17mm deep. They extend to the large central hole at the center of the cylinder but the end of the thumb screw does not bear directly against the boom arm. It instead bears against a plastic liner pressed into that central hole which prevents scratching the finish of the boom arm.

Q: 3. Could this mic arm works with the MXL BCD-1?

A: This studio boom arm would be compatible with the MXR BCD-1 Broadcast Dynamic Microphone.

Q: 4. What stand should I use with this boom arm? I have an Atlas Sound MS-43E which is pretty stable, 8-lb base, but is it enough when used with Shure BLX24?

A: You can use your Atlas MS-43E mic stand with this boom arm and a Shure BLX2 handheld wireless mic transmitter (which is the transmitter for BLX24 system). The MS-43E can support the weight of the boom arm and the mic.

Q: 5. what is the warranty for this item?

A: The S3 Zoom boom arm has a limited 2-year warranty from Thronmax.

Q: 6. How wide is are the tripod legs when extended? (i.e., how much floor space does this take up?)

A: According to Latch Lake web page: Tripod Base Our patent pending Symmetric Torque Tripod base features all new folding solid core legs giving you the distinctive stability all micKings are known for with a portable touch. This base enables a breakdown size of just under three feet. That's all I could find, you may want to call them: Latch Lake phone #: 1-800-428-2437

Q: 7. What is the maximum amount of weight the device wilB support before it begins to slip around the ball ?

A: This is a very strong system, it hold all size iPads with no problem. You will be surprised on how strong this is.

Q: 8. I already have the Kupo C-stand with Turtle Base, the steel baby boom arm and the grip head. However, I like the idea of the Kupo Pivoting Boom Arm Clamp. I am having trouble, from the singular image, how it will actually works with the boom arm. It might seem like a silly question, but how does the pole fit into it? Or, is this accessory for another type of boom arm? Thanks for your time!!

A: The riser from a C stand is inserted in the tube that you see in the top of the image of this product. Then you twist the handle on top to tighten it in place. So, this product basically allows you to use a C stand riser as a super-sturdy boom arm.

Q: 9. What is the minimum and maximum length between the pivot point/clamp and the mic thread?

A: The Atlas Sound PB21XEB boom arm extends from a minimum length of 25.25" to a maximum length of 38.50".

Q: 10. What is the diameter of the top section, will it hold a foba extension?

A: The clamp can work with items that are between,Minimum Jaw Diameter is 1.18 (30mm)Maximum Jaw Diameter is 1.38 (35mm)There are many Foba extensions. Technically if the one you are referring to is in between the sizes above it should fit.

[Black] As a guitarist I had bought several pieces to hold my iPhones and iPads satisfy my needs, but none worked as best as this one. Now I switch between my iPhone and iPad pro without any issues and become more productive.
Thanks

[Black] This mic stand is heavy but it feels like it will last forever! We bought a couple earlier this year and just added a few more to the studio because of how reliable and sturdy they are. They seem to be able to hold just about any sort of mic or piece of equipment we've tried putting on it with no question it would remain stable and strong. Highly recommend, especially for permanent setups!

[1.5 lb] Latch Lake is simply the best. You should be aware however that if you order this arm to be mounted on a non-Latch Lake stand, you will need to also purchase the "thread extender." It will be useless without it.

[Black] Extremely useful with iPad for gigs. I use Set List Maker on a 2018 iPad. I recommend attaching the ferro- magnetic plate to a hard plastic cover, rather than to the device itself.

[Black] We do a lot of interviews for our documentaries and this mic stand is just the ticket. Strong, sturdy and sensibly designed, it gives me a lot of confidence when we set up that at least we don't have to worry about it. Once you handle it and set it up, you'll know why it cost a little more. My son is always telling me to buy nice or buy twice. I'm sure this stand will be around for a few generations. It's well worth the investment.

[Black] I recently bought an AEA R44 which is a HEAVY mic. Online forums recommended stands by Latch Lake. Well worth the price. i did some tests of the stand prior to use and it's solid as a rock! And the folks at B and H were of course solid professionals as always!

[5/8"-27 Male] This boom stand is super stable, very adjustable, sturdy, solid, well built and yes, it will collapse down to a more convenient package for travel when compared to other large studio mic stands.
I was really tired of using boom mics on stages when they are required to reach to their fullest extension, because, you know, they get knocked over, even when folks are careful. So I have a pile of sand bags to keep the Atlas and K&M boom stands stable. But what about the vocal mic for the pianist at the grand piano?---there are not many boom stand options that can actually reach the vocalist who is playing piano and at the same time get the heck out of the way. The Latch Lake MicKing 1100 sure can.
This is a mic stand you acquire for an entire career. It is everything you wish your other boom stands would be, and there are a lot of other nice boom stands, but this one is better.
Caveat: it is heavy. A big full of these? Ummm... not so much. Do not expect to easily travel with more than a couple of the MicKing 1100 stands. These should be used in tandem with a variety of other more light weight stands for on stage, reserving the 1100 for special tasks, like drum over head, vocal mic for a pianist, for use of a larger, heavy microphone and that sort of thing.
And yes, absolutely yes, the MicKing 1100 is an excellent studio choice as well. In fact, for my preference, this style mic stand is better than the large studio stands with wheels.
