Optimized for Canon EF-mount lenses in the Global Vision line, the Sigma TC-1401 1.4x Teleconverter for Canonfrom Sigma TC-1401 1.4x Teleconverter for Canonwill offer an increase in focal length of 1.4 times for select Global Vision lenses. This model offers full communication between the lens and camera and will allows autofocus to operate at up to f/8. The teleconverter also features one Special Low Dispersion element for reducing the appearance of chromatic aberrations and maintaining quality. Additionally, for protection, the TC-1401 is both dust and splashproof. When attached, the 1.4x conversion results in a light loss of approximately one stop.

NOTE: Autofocus may not function when using lenses with a maximum aperture of f/5.6 or lower.

A: According to Sigma, at this time the TC-1401 is only compatible with the following Global Vision lenses:Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM LensSigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports LensSigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary LensIt is not compatible with the older telephoto lenses, such as the 50-500mm or 120-400mm. For these, you would need to go with the older Sigma 1.4X teleconverter.

Q: 10. If you have a Canaon camera body and a Sigma Lens which mount option do you choose - Canon EF or Sigma SA ?

[1 Stop] I tried this on my SIgma 150-600 and it worked extremely well, but I found that my Canon C100 would auto focus even with the 2X so I returned this one. It's a great product and sharper than I thought it would be but I wanted the longer reach for shooting orchestral videos form the back of the hall and getting tight shots of the musicians finger and bow motions. I tried both just to be sure. I think for stills I would have kept the 1.4, but no way to know without trying. 5

[0.735 lb] I use the TC-1401 with my Sigma 60-600 telephoto lens and a Canon 6D MkII camera. It performed very well. I had no trouble with picture clarity and no problem with auto focus. 5

[1" / 25 mm] Bought this for those deer photos that I take in early and late light, because it still gives me a half stop more light than my 150-600, and a 100mm more reach. Works great on birds, waiting for spring to search deer. 5

[Canon EF] Sigma is known for excellent optics, and this teleconverter continues in that vein. I've used this to get slightly more reach, and there has not been much effect on overall optical quality...very pleased overall. 5

[0.735 lb] This Sigma teleconverter for a 150-600mm Sigma Contemporary lens works well in manual taking pictures of birds such as Egrets, Herons, etc. It would be great if they could also make the converters work in automatic at F/8 for cameras that are set up for this. I don't think the teleconverter will do this, but the 150-600mm lens works well in autofocus. 5

[1 Stop] I'm using this (TC-1401) with my Sigma 150-600C and a Sigma MC-11 (Canon EF to Sony E Mount adapter) on my Sony A7 III, and getting amazingly sharp photos with full focus functionality. At 840mm I'm limited to F9, but the low light performance of the Sony is so good, I don't seem to miss it. 5

[Canon EF] Paired with the Sigma 500mm f/4. Took multiple photos to micro adjust and I could not see a difference in quality with and without the converter at 200% enlargement. Works well and autofocus works works great. Great service from B & H 5

[0.735 lb] Have been using this with the Sigma 150-600mm lens to shoot pictures of eagle nests. On a tripod and good sun, I have been extremely pleased with the results. I had expected some drop off cannot see any difference in sharpness with or without. Great addition to the lens. 5
