The ATEN CL5708N 8-Port 19" KVM Consoleis a control unit that allows access to multiple computers from a single PS/2 or USB KVM (keyboard, video, and mouse) console. A single CL5708N can control up to 8 computers, and as many as 31 additional KVM switches can be daisy-chained to the CL5708N, so that up to 256 computers can all be controlled from a single KVM console.

The CL5708N integrates a keyboard, 19" LCD monitor, and touchpad in a 1U rack-mountable sliding housing for conservation of space.

A: I'm not that techno but have you tried switching cables? Other than that, the switch isn't that complicated.

Q: 5. Using 2 computers, will each be able to separately connect to the internet?

A: Yes, they will continue to connect to the internet in the same manner as always. This device is only intended to share a monitor and keyboard/mouse (or other USB devices) between otherwise independent computers.

Q: 6. Right now I am using the device to share my monitor, keyboard and mouse. How do I unplug the monitors so that i only share the keyboard and mouse?

A: You should be able to simply plug the monitor directly into the computer you want to have the display attached to and leave the keyboard and mice cables plugged in the KVM switch and to the attached PCs. I'm not sure why you would want to use the switch with no visible display unless you now have 2 monitors one for each PC and a single mouse and a single keyboard.

Q: 7. how to switch from one to another.?

A: You would be able to switch between the two devices using this ATEN CS64U 4-Port USB KVM Switch, by pressing the "HOT Keys" on your Keyboard.

[Direct: 8] I needed to switch between two laptops that needed to use the same USB keyboard, USB mouse, and monitor using a VGA connector. The IOGear 2-port USB KVM switch is compact, with plenty of attached cables for both computers, and a very handy push-button switch on a long dedicated cable that allowed me to hide the KVM and position the switch right in front of my monitor. [1 - 255 sec] I have been building server racks for about three years now and my company has always ordered another brand of KVM (Advocent.) After experiencing many issues with the other brand, I was asked to find a new KVM for use in the future. I've had this one for about 1 month now and it has been better in every way. It comes as one piece so there is no assembly required. It responds very quickly when cycling through the servers and cycling is as easy as pressing one button. The display is big and clear and the unit locks into the rack with two spring loaded latches, which is much nicer than the thumbscrews I'm used to that never work right. The only problem I have, and this might just be me, is that the cycle controls feel backward. I use the thing every day and still find myself cycling the wrong way constantly (This is a very minor inconvenience though because, as I said before, cycling is very easy anyway.) All in all, it has been very easy to work with so far and I have recommended this product for future use. 5
