The ATEN 16-Port 17" LCD KVM Console Bundleis a control unit that allows access to multiple computers from a single PS/2 or USB KVM (keyboard, video, and mouse) console. A single CL5716MUKIT can control up to 16 computers, and as many as 31 additional KVM switches can be daisy-chained to the CL5716MUKIT, so that up to 512 computers can all be controlled from a single KVM console.

The CL5716MUKIT integrates a keyboard, 17" LCD monitor, and touchpad in a 1U rack-mountable sliding housing for conservation of space.

With this KVM Console we can use our laptops to access the console on our systems in the field instead of configuring remote console over Ethernet and relying on out of band management to access our system consoles. 5

[1 - 255 sec] I have this switch set up to allow me to switch between a Retina MacBook Pro and my tower gaming PC with Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card, and it performs the job very well. Previously I had a similar setup using an IOGear DVI+USB KVM switch between MacBook Pro and my older tower PC, with just a DVI-to-DisplayPort adapter on the video cable to the Mac. For the new setup I bought a DisplayPort-to-mini-DisplayPort cable for the Mac (could have used an adapter but the cable was $10 and it's less... lumpy... this way.) I've only been using it for a week or so, but it's working great! Comes with all cables, which seem to be solid quality, and fully bus-powered - small and light but seems well made. The older IOGear DVI+USB2 switch wasn't as expensive as this when it was new, but I guess that's the price I pay for going 4K. I did my usual research on all available DisplayPort + USB switch options before selecting this one, and I'm pretty sure I made the right choice here. If you're trying to drive a 2K or 4K monitor from two DisplayPort-equipped machines and share a mouse and keyboard between them, this is the ticket. 5

[Direct: 16] I have been building server racks for about three years now and my company has always ordered another brand of KVM (Advocent.) After experiencing many issues with the other brand, I was asked to find a new KVM for use in the future. I've had this one for about 1 month now and it has been better in every way. It comes as one piece so there is no assembly required. It responds very quickly when cycling through the servers and cycling is as easy as pressing one button. The display is big and clear and the unit locks into the rack with two spring loaded latches, which is much nicer than the thumbscrews I'm used to that never work right. The only problem I have, and this might just be me, is that the cycle controls feel backward. I use the thing every day and still find myself cycling the wrong way constantly (This is a very minor inconvenience though because, as I said before, cycling is very easy anyway.) All in all, it has been very easy to work with so far and I have recommended this product for future use. 5
