Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Right now I am using the device to share my monitor, keyboard and mouse. How do I unplug the monitors so that i only share the keyboard and mouse?

A: You should be able to simply plug the monitor directly into the computer you want to have the display attached to and leave the keyboard and mice cables plugged in the KVM switch and to the attached PCs. I'm not sure why you would want to use the switch with no visible display unless you now have 2 monitors one for each PC and a single mouse and a single keyboard.

Q: 2. Does this KVM support EDID?

A: No, the IOGEAR 2-Port 4K KVM Switch does not support EDID.

Q: 3. Does this pass audio over the HDMI connection?

A: Yes, HDMI carries sound.

Q: 4. Can I just buy the adapter? Only adapter. It's broken.

A: It is possible the adapter you need is a Manufacture's Part. Please email us directly at provideo@a href= http://bhphoto.com target= _blank bhphoto.com/a and we will be able to better assist you find the part you need.

Q: 5. how to install?

A: You just plug the video cable inputs into the computers and the output side into the monitor. You also have to plug in the USB cable into at least one of the computers for power. Once it is all connected, you just use the button to flip between computers.

Q: 6. It says operating systems XP or Vista. What about Win 7 and 10?

A: I use this with Windows 7 - believe that is considered in the Vista family. A tech friend helped set things up initially, and it has worked well since then. Dennis D.

Q: 7. Will it work with Windows 10?

A: Yes, this unit is actually OS independent (it is pure hardware, no software needed). If you are using it with a scanner, just make sure the switch is selected to each pc when you are booting up otherwise it may not work properly in the software - just a tip.

Q: 8. Will this switch work with my MS wireless Combo KB and Mouse?

A: The IOGEAR 2-Port USB KVM Switch will work with any USB keyboard, and mouse. This would include a Microsoft combo kit.

Q: 9. IOGear 2-Port usb kvm switch with audio and microphone GCS72U...using 2 computers, is each one able to connect to the internet independently?

A: Thank you for choosing IOGEAR. The GCS72U is a KVM switch made to share one keyboard , mouse and monitor between two computers. The internet connection going to each computer would not be affected. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

Q: 10. do you need to have a program open for the printer switch to work?

A: I just Plugged it in and it worked ok. It took a little effort to Be sure it got switched to the right printer/computer combination. But no, there is no software involved.

[1.4 lb] Ask for a simple DVI/USB KVM switch and get one with this cool little wired remote! No more fumbling for the big switch or trying to remember key commands. That little remote with adhesive is stuck to the monitor base. One click and I'm on the next machine. Simple setup. Integrated cables make it nice. And fast switching, with the little remote, of course, makes it sweet!

[Plastic] Had previous experience with a dual port DVI and VGA StarTech KVM and this one is just as good. Yes, the hot keys don't work with a wireless keyboard but I suspect that is more a function of the keyboard driver than the KVM switch, since the last unit I had also had a wireless keyboard and mouse and was flawless in its operations. It would be nice if the DVI connectors were just a smidgen (metric) further apart from one another, but these are minor issues that have nothing to do with the quality or the operation of the unit itself.
I love the fact that this is a metal housing; makes it stay put and feels high quality.

[8.9 x 6.5 x 3"] This device works as advertised.
NOTE: It is USB-powered, so at least one of the USB-A plugs must go to a USB port that can provide some juice.

[1.4 lb] One monitor, two computers. Both computers have DVI port. This product is working well - 1 week. Had similar product from IOgear - for VGA. Used for 10 years - no problems.

[1920 x 1200] I have this switch set up to allow me to switch between a Retina MacBook Pro and my tower gaming PC with Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card, and it performs the job very well. Previously I had a similar setup using an IOGear DVI+USB KVM switch between MacBook Pro and my older tower PC, with just a DVI-to-DisplayPort adapter on the video cable to the Mac. For the new setup I bought a DisplayPort-to-mini-DisplayPort cable for the Mac (could have used an adapter but the cable was $10 and it's less... lumpy... this way.) I've only been using it for a week or so, but it's working great! Comes with all cables, which seem to be solid quality, and fully bus-powered - small and light but seems well made. The older IOGear DVI+USB2 switch wasn't as expensive as this when it was new, but I guess that's the price I pay for going 4K. I did my usual research on all available DisplayPort + USB switch options before selecting this one, and I'm pretty sure I made the right choice here. If you're trying to drive a 2K or 4K monitor from two DisplayPort-equipped machines and share a mouse and keyboard between them, this is the ticket.
