Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible to get an overhead shot (looking straight down) with this jib?

A: It is possible to get an overhead shot with this jib, however you'll probably want to attach a security cable to your camera to play it safe. There are two knobs that can be loosened to extend the jib; when both are fully extended the camera will stay parallel to ground, but if you extend the top bar further than the bottom bar you can progressively tilt the camera down further and further. This jib has been extremely useful on my shoots, where I rarely have an assistant, as I can set this up in just a few minutes. Make sure you properly set your counter weight, this and a bit of practice and you'll be getting some nice, smooth shots.

Q: 2. Hi the load capicity indicated is 10lb/4.5 kg. Does it include the counter balance weights or is it just calculated for the camera (or crane and camera)?

A: The load capacity refers to the weight of the camera and accessories.

Q: 3. Can you use this to mount a Kessler Cineslider to 100mm bowl-size tripod legs?

A: Yes. This item BH #KETH1019 allows and users to mount flat items like the underside of the Cineslider to the 100 mm bowl based Kessler Tripod System.

Q: 4. can this Jib handle a Sony FS7?

A: This Jib is awesome but it is best used with a body with a short base as the attachment plate for the Jib is a little bit short. There is a possibility that your threaded hole is in a position that it would clear the arm when going up and down but I am not sure. We use it with our Panasonic AC90 and it just clears it. Use strong sticks though as the jib / tripod will wobble if the camera is too heavy. I hope this helps.

Q: 5. The matching K-Pod tripod is rated for loads to 500 lbs - what is the load rating of this swivel mount (the specs do not say)?

A: The Kessler Crane Pocket Jib Swivel Mount is compatible with the Kessler Crane Pocket Jib and should reflect the same payload as the K-Pod.

Q: 6. What is the ratio for the counterweights, at the different extensions?

A: Use this formula to calculate the ballpark counterweights for jibs like the Kessler Crane Pocket Jib PRO (without 100mm Swivel Mount) at varying lengths: Camera weight x distance of the camera to the pivot / distance of counter to the pivot.

Q: 7. What length HDMI cable would I need to run from the DSLR to the monitor that is mounted to the Kessler Pocket Jib Traveller?

A: I don't have it mounted and open right now, but the specs here say 6' max extension from fulcrum, so I'm going to say you'd be safe with a 7-8' HDMI cable, right? You can always tie up the extra near the monitor which can attach to the base (near the fulcrum). If I were shopping for one (good idea, by the way) I would look for something flexible and light. Some of those HDMI cables are stiff and heavy. Good luck!

Q: 8. does this crane need a specific kind of tripod?

A: The base of the Pocket Jib has a 3/8 -16 screw hole so it will mount to the base of any standard tripod leg. You will just want to make sure the tripod you use is rated to support the total payload.

Q: 9. Does it have auto-tilt capability?

A: The Kessler Crane Pocket Jib Traveler has auto-level but not auto tilt. Since Kessler cranes do not offer auto-tilt, they instead utilize electronic pan and tilt heads.

Q: 10. Will this work with both the Pocket Jib and the Pocket Jib Traveler?

A: This is for the larger Pocket Jib only.

[33.5 lb] I use the Kessler Pocket JIb PRO for live professional wrestling events. I debated purchasing this because I was afraid it might not give me enough reach. When paired with the Kessler K-Pod at full extension, it gets plenty high. I did not put a tape measure to it, but my camera must have been close to 10 feet with my setup. The jib is very heavy duty and can support my camera, head, and teleprompter with no problems. The K-pod pairs beautifully and is similarly constructed. All motions are fluid and smooth as long as I do my part. I got the swivel mount rather than the hercules head, which has been sufficient for my needs. I would encourage anyone looking for a solid production tool to consider the Kessler product. I would absolutely purchase again.

[33.5 lb] This jib raised the bar on my quality videos substantially. What I love most about this mini jib is the fact that it's so compact, it'll fit in my tripod bag and can be set up on the spot instantly

[33.5 lb] I got the swivel mount instead of the hercules head to mount my kessler pocket pro jib to my K-pod. It works great and it provides good, smooth motion.

[33.5 lb] I've rented jibs before and even hired a crew for a big event. I've always wanted my own, but they were typically big and clunky. This is great! Lightweight - works on my standard tripods - easy to set up. Of course, it's not going to get those sweeping views of a performance in a big theatre, but for simple motion shots, it's excellent.

[33.5 lb] When I was shopping for my jib I wanted something I could fold up and didn't have to hassle with when traveling. This fit all my needs and is really easy to operate with no hassle. If you are looking for something that can fold up to and toss in your truck this is perfect!

[33.5 lb] I was looking for a compact, easy to use jib for real estate videos and some documentary actualities. I tried the DJI Osmo but it wasn't as smooth as I needed it to be (it still shows the slight up and down movements when you're walking, although it's really smooth otherwise). I've used Fisher dolly jibs and others and know how smooth they can be and while the Kessler Pocket Jib is no Fisher, it's still awesome. It's perfect for my needs. It's compact, easy to put together, very sturdy and works the way I hoped it would. When it's folded up, it's no larger than my collapsed Manfrotto tripod legs and it weighs about the same, maybe slightly less. The length is a big plus, too. I'm able to extend my tripod legs to full height and get large swooping shots when needed. I highly recommend to anyone looking for fluid and smooth dynamic shots with a compact jib.
