Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the maximum magnification ratio? Does this focus all the way out to infinity?

A: The SLR Magic MicroPrime CINE 35mm T1.5 Lens (MFT) has about a 2x crop from a full-frame sensor when used on a Micro Four Third camera. The lens can focus to infinity.

Q: 2. Can you add shims to this adapter and are any sold for it?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacture does not list shim capability for the SLR Magic PL to MFT-Mount Adapter.

Q: 3. does this lens cover full frame?

A: This lens is recommended for Super 35/APS-C or smaller sensors. It will vignette on a Full Frame sensor.

Q: 4. What’s the minimum focus distance on the 17mm?

A: It has a minimum focus distance of 7″/18cm.

Q: 5. Will this work with the dzofilm pictor 20-55mm?

A: Yes, the SLR Magic PL to MFT-Mount Adapter is compatible with the DZOFilm Pictor 20 to 55mm T2.8 Super35 Parfocal Zoom Lens (PL Mount and EF Mount).

Q: 6. description says "suitable for 4k capture", will there be image issues if I record on a higher resolution than 4k?

A: There won't be issues recording higher resolutions with the SLR Magic MicroPrime CINE 35mm T1.5 Lens (MFT). The higher resolution may render the "flaws," in the lens and they may be more noticeable. Some consider such flaws to be "character."

Q: 7. Will this cover super 35 sensor?

A: No, the SLR Magic Microprime Cine Lenses cover micro 4/3 sensors.

Q: 8. how would this lens work on a smaller sensor such as a super16 - 12.48 x 7.02 mm sensor size ?

A: If the lens mount and the flange depth are correct, then this lens will cover a Super16 sensor and focus without issue. I would assume you are thinking of the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera and are wondering what this lens would actually look like on it. With anamorphic, in order to maintain perspective, the rule of thumb is to 2X the focal length for the focal length you would normally use. In Super16, the Rule Of Thumb (ROT) with regular lenses: wide is 12mm, normal is 25mm and telephoto is 50mm. When shooting in anamorphic, you would then consider 25mm the wide, 50mm the normal and 100mm the telephoto. With this 35mm anamorphic lens, you would be getting a moderate wide perspective in the frame. This of course is not the same thing as the wide aspect ratio you are shooting in. (Which is the whole point of anamorphic.)

Q: 9. What is the focus throw, is it the same across all the other lenses in the set?

A: All the SLR Magic MicroPrime CINE lenses feature 150° of focus rotation.

Q: 10. Will this work with the 1.33x 40 anamorphot?

A: Yes, SLR Magic says their 35mm will work with their 1.33x 40 anamorphot. Cue Quentin Tarantino.

[0.395 lb] An easy, affordable step up in the look of my images. Received great assistance from B&H through Chat to think through options, ideas, and trade-offs.

[35mm] Huge fan of these SLR Magic Microprimes.

I now have a full set: 12mm T/2.8, 17mm T/1.5, 21mm fT/1.6, 25mm T/1.5, 35mm T/1.5, 50mm T/1.5. They're the best bang for your buck cinema primes out there, in my opinion. I use them with a BMPCC4k and GH5 and I love them.

The only thing I wish they had was a bit more throw with the longer distances. There's very little travel from infinity to six feet, for example.

If your focus or aperture ring seems stiff at first, don't worry - it'll loosen up after some use.

I'm now starting a collection of the SLR Magic APO lenses for PL mount.

[Manual Focus] I've been using this lens for a few days now, i really enjoy the showmo footage I've gotten with it as well as some portrait pictures. For the price ($60) this is an excellent deal. It's decently sharp and easy to use, i will recommend adding a focusing ring to differentiate a bit faster focus and aperture.

[37 mm (Front)] Super snug and a tight fit on both ends (PL and MFT), it seems surprisingly well made considering how cheap it is.

[0.395 lb] Happy with this product. This works well with my BMPCC4k camera. I use to it to mount my PL mount lenses without any binding issues. It is snug and allows me to swap out lenses easily.

[37 mm (Front)] You cannot expect results similar to Leica, Zeiss etc, but when I give it 5 stars I take price into consideration. I was surprised by sharpness and contrast in the sweet spot, and soon discovered that the main flaw of this lens; a strongly curved focus field, can be used for very practical purposes. Put your main subject in the middle, and another one near the edge; much closer to the camera, and you can have both crisp sharp at f 1,7! Brilliant for video!

[Manual Focus] I was skeptic all at first since it’s very hard to find reliable PL-mount adaptors these days, as some have screws on sides and they have complaints of being not 100% compatible. However I’ve bought lenses from SLRMagic and they were amazing so I thought this adaptor would be too. I was right, it’s amazing. It fits perfectly and has very solid build; fully metal, AND NO SCREWS!! This product gave me the feeling of “too good to be true”. BUY IT!
