The Kessler 100mm High Hat for Slidersfrom Kessler 100mm High Hat for Slidersmounts directly to the carriages of Kessler Camera Sliders, allowing you to mount a 100mm bowl-mount tripod head. It includes a knob for fluid heads with a 3/8" threaded stud. For mounting the 75mm Bowl Mount style tripod heads, a 100mm-to-75mm adapter can be used in order to make it compatible with the 100mm high hat.

Q: 1. What's the thread size of the stud at the bottom? Is it possible to pair it with a shorter tie-down?

A: This Ball Mount has One 3/8"-16 and Four 1/4"-20 threads on it. However we are not aware of a shorter tie down available for this mount.

Q: 2. Will the inner part support a 75mm video head? I'm interested in it because it says that it will remain flat in a 75mm bowl tripod (which helps with sliders). I have the carbon 645 Fast from Manfrotto.

A: The Kessler Crane 100mm Ball Kit adapts flat-base tripod heads to 100mm as well as 75mm bowl tripods.

Q: 3. How is the balance and usability when using this on a Cineslider with a larger camera rig, since the payload is then offset on the Cineslider?

A: There should be no issues when using this for balance. You will just need to make sure you have enough support under the slider.

Q: 4. Does this come included with a 100mm half ball leveler?

A: The item comes as shown in the photograph. The 100mm ball leveler would need to come from whatever tripod head you are using it with. It does come in a pretty cool bag as well as a set of extra screw on feet for different surfaces.

Q: 5. Do the rubber feet pull off of the ball? This seems like mounting upside wouldn't be an option correct?

A: I have used this upside down. It held camera fine until there was a bit of a bounce on the rigging, The feet came out of the rubber sockets, luckily I had safety chained the camera to the rigging.

Q: 6. Anyone ever try this with a Miller 100mm Head ?

A: The Manfrotto 529 Hi Hat with 100mm Bowl should be compatible with a Miller head that has a 100mm bowl mount.

Q: 7. Any idea what thread is appropriate for a Sachtler XL head that will fit inside this hi hat?

A: We think you are asking for an adapter for this high hat; I.E. the Sachtler XL 75mm to fit the Kesseler 100mm High Hat. You can use this adapter: Kessler Crane 100mm to 75mm Bowl Adapter B&H # KETH1017. The XL thread and tie down should work with this configuration.

[1.51 lb] This thing is strong and sturdy yet compact and light weight. I didn't expect to love it as much as I do. Has accessories and everything (except a head) to get you going. Love the bag. Used it in studio and desert. Very agile. Lots of ways to mount and swappable feet. Gets low as your head allows. Highly recommend. 5

[1.51 lb] I was skeptical at first because I didn't know what High Hat to purchase that would be compatible with my Manfrotto 504 Ball Head, but it fits! It's incredibly sturdy and works on other sliders than just other Kessler products. 5

[1.51 lb] The product works perfectly as described, just be aware that the locking nut is 3/8 and therefor not compatible with the Sachtler and Miller Heads I own. I was able to source a metric M10 nut locally that works great. 5

[1.51 lb] The 100mm ball high hat is a great addition to the Kessler slider system. The high hat also works well as a stand-alone and low cost high hat when mounted to a pancake or apple box with screws. One word of caution: Resist the temptation to put more than the mfg suggested weight. Kessler system is smooth and reliable, but not designed for heavyweight pro cameras. 5

[100 mm] Ok, so I've been shooting corporate video and reality TV for just over 40yrs and still love'n my job. Over the years I've had many occasions where I needed a Hi-Hat support...rather than buy these fixed metal bolt to plywood units, I just had the wife sew a small durable vinyl pillow to do the job of supporting my camera. Now that shots made with a short 2' slider are common, I needed a real Hi-Hat support. When I discovered this Benro unit I was impressed. It's what I really needed for the past 40yrs. Build quality is true professional (it can support up to 220lbs - I'm 170lbs, stood on it to test and it's solid) and the additional included feet are a real plus. The carry bag is not an afterthought but a really nice bonus-very well made too! ...so from now on this little tool will be on every one of our shoots from this point forward.
