A: According to Yongnuo, there is no specific setting in the Yongnuo Speedlite YN600EX-RT II for Canon Cameras to specify external battery usage. I would recommend to first ensure you do have four (4) AA batteries inside the flash as well as the external battery. Also, ensure the power cable is fully inserted in both the battery pack and into the flash. Then you may turn on your Bolt PP-500DR battery pack, then turn on the Yongnuo Speedlite YN600EX-RT II. The recycle time should be reduced, but it will be most noticeable when the flash is set to full power or when shooting multiple shots in a row (compared to using the flash without the external battery pack). If you do not notice a decrease in recycle time, and if the battery pack was purchased within the last 30 days, you may contact our Customer Service Department to return the battery pack for an exchange or a refund.
