Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the payload capacity? It states 20lbs. But with a 20lb payload x3 for counter balance, you get 60lbs. Then when you add in the 27.5lbs needed to balance the crane without a payload, you get 87.5lbs of counterbalance weight. The manual states that you should not exceed 75lbs of counter balance. So that puts the max payload for a balanced crane at 16lbs. That is 20% less than the advertised max payload. So what is the true safe balanced payload capacity and counterweight capacity?

A: Please call us: 800.606.6969

Q: 2. Does it have an electric pump or a manual pump?

A: The Kessler Crane Lamprey Adapter (8") has a manual pump. Kessler has discontinued AutoVac product line that provided electrical pump options.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with Benro S6 head/ manfrotto 501PL?

A: Sorry, no. This is made to the Arca Swiss type plate standard which is unlike the Manfrotto 501PL standard.

Q: 4. Will this plate work with Custom Brackets' QRA Arca-Swiss Style Tripod Quick Release Receiver?

A: Ive used it with really right stuff ball head which is an arca style quick release.

Q: 5. Does this provide proper vertical spacing on the rods for the Canon C500 mk II for a mattebox?

A: no this will not work for the canon C500 MKii

Q: 6. Is this 100% Arca compatible?

A: Yes it is. It works perfectly with the Kessler crane Kwik release receiver.

Q: 7. Does the plate actually weigh 1 lb? That seems kind of high, didn't know if the weight was referring to the shipping weight ...thanks

A: Yea it does. If not exactly, it's close to it. It's a solid piece of metal. Still holding up for me no prob.

Q: 8. will the manfrotto 509HD be able to mount this crane? because I already own one and do not want to buy the Hercules as it is unnecessary. I really am seriously considering this crane though, so a answer would be awesome. Thanks!

A: The Manfrotto 509HD is a really nice video head, however its load capacity is only 29 pounds. This crane weighs 30 pounds before you even put a camera on it. Also the load capacity of a tripod head diminishes the further away the load gets from the center. Which is why we recommend the Hercules 2.0 Head when using this crane. It has the load capacity to handle the crane and most cameras you would put on it.

Q: 9. What is the spacing of the two countersunk mounting holes?

A: I had the question. This plate is specifically designed to Mount DSLR cameras, mirrorless cameras and the Kessler Pocket Jib Traveler to the Kwik Release Receiver (From the Kessler website.) It does work as stated, but is not much use for anything else. I used it to mount the Kessler Pocket Jib Traveler to Kessler's Kwik Release Receiver, and it worked great for that, but, it is not a strong mount. I used it on my Sachtler Ace tripod, and it would give a little, so I suggest sandbagging down the tripod legs if you go in this direction. Since it is a specific tool, I don't think measurements are all that important.

Q: 10. will this work on a nikon 70-200 f2.8ED and the Arca swiss P0?

A: Yes it can. It has the 1/4-20" thread and is Arca compatible.

[1 lb / 0.45 kg] This is a solid, very strong block of precisely machined aluminum which fits ultra sturdy into the Kessler Kwik Receiver. Pro tip: suppose you mount the plate to the base of a tripod head, jib, or slider using a single 3/8-inch threaded connection through the center of the Kessler plate. With sufficient torque, the head/jib/slider could potentially spin or unscrew/loosen (this concern applies to any manufacturer, not just Kessler). To help prevent this, get yourself a couple of short 1/4-inch set screws (a.k.a. grub screws) and thread them into the 1/4-inch holes in the Kessler plate (from the bottom) until they secure against the base of your head/jib/slider. Now you've created a clamping force that makes it much harder for the head/jib/slider to spin on the plate.

[0.995 lb] Awesome one stop solution to quickly switching my slider onto different equipment using the Kessler kwik receiver

[1 lb / 0.45 kg] These are about the best utility plates I've seen. Very heavy duty. I use them to hold my 5 x 7 and 8 x 10 view cameras,

My only quibble is that there's no 1/4inch hole on the centerline. The provided 1/4 - 20 machine screws will work, but they should be just a tiny bit longer IMHO so there is at least 2 or three full thread engagement in the camera tripod socket.

[1 lb / 0.45 kg] great quality and very sturdy. I do not have to worry about gear coming loose. Easy to install and operate. I use it to attach a Kessler pocket jib traveler to my benro sticks and never have had a problem. I just picked up a slider plate for it and it works great.

[1 lb / 0.45 kg] We purchased this plate to go with our Kessler short slider. We also purchased a medium length quick plate for our camera and the received unit for our tripod. Honestly, I don't know why tripod manufacturers don't copy Kessler. This is the BEST way to go! So called "quick release plates" that slide on and off tripods are fine but this is MUCH BETTER!!! You just put your camera on it and gently push down...click, and it's on the tripod safely. Slide it back and forth to get the perfect balance, flip the lever to lock and you're ready to go. To remove, release the locking lever, push a button and lift your camera off. Easy. Got a slider? Same thing to lock it on to your tripod. We will never go back to the old way. I highly recommend this and all the items related to this system.

[1 lb / 0.45 kg] Exactly what I was looking for. This Arca-Swiss type plate is perfect for my needs. It took me some time to find the right plate to use with my Sinar f2 4x5 camera and it also works well on my Cinetics Slider.
I recommend this if you need something with a wide base of 3x3
Excellent quailty too!
