The Tiffen 67mm Black Satin 1 Filterhelps to reduce the overall contrast of an image and better control the highlights within a scene. In addition to rendering highlights with a grittier, more grainy appearance, this filter also helps to subtly soften facial blemishes and wrinkles for a natural, refined look. The 1 density provides less contrast and highlight reduction than the 2, while still producing a soft, yet natural appearance.

This filter is constructed from Water White glass and is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this filter be used with 300mm f/2.8l usm11 lens?

A: To use this filter with the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L USM II, you would need the Canon - Drop-In Filter Holder for 52mm Screw-In Filters, BH # CAFHS52 https://bhpho.to/32xuTCE

Q: 2. Will this work with the canon rebel t3 slr? why is it labeled 52 mm? will it work with canon 70-300 zoom lens and canon standard 18-55 mm lens?

A: The Canon Rebel T3 SLR can be used with circular polarizers, however the lens/lenses you use will determine the specific filter size you need. This particular one is labeled 52mm as the diameter (measurement of line through the center) is 52mm wide. The Canon 18-55mm and 70-300mm lenses in this instance both have 58mm sized filter threads to mount filters and lens caps. So this 52mm sized filter is not compatible with those lenses. See the links below for two different compatible/recommended 58mm Circular Polarizer filters:http://bhpho.to/JyJADXhttp://bhpho.to/JyNih2

Q: 3. what is the warranty for the 52 and 58mm HD3 UV, HD3 CPL and variable ND filters?

A: Hoya filters carry a limited lifetime warranty.

Q: 4. Where are these made?

A: Hi, Japan is the country of origin for these filters.

Q: 5. How thin is this Hoya 49MM HD3 UV filter?

A: It is about 3mm thick.

Q: 6. Is the filter ring made of brass or aluminum?

A: The ZEISS UV and POL filter housings are made from aluminum.

Q: 7. Is it hype, or are these filters, indeed, easier to clean?

A: Yes it is easier to clean these filters, I also use a lenspen, and like the other guy stated not that often. But the Main reason I bought my three 77mm HD3 UV's was because it is three times harder to scratch then my lenses glass. So they are Protecting 5400. dollars worth of glass! And I think that the 128. dollars each (x3= 384.) is well Worth the price that I was Gladly Willing to Pay! And I am completely Happy with them. They do Exactly what the manufacture says they will do! So buy it, you will Not regret it!

Q: 8. Is this Multicoated? Is it better than the b+w filter?

A: Yes T* lenses are multicoated. I use one of these on a Zeiss zf2 lens for Nikon and my other ZF2 Zeiss lenses (5) all have B+W F-Pro filters on them. I see no difference between these two brands of filter on lenses used on D810. There is a lot of hype around filter brands. Take the filters off when you want the lens to perform as designed.

Q: 9. For my Sony 18-105mm F4 lens. Would you guys recommend that I get the Zeiss 72mm UV filter or the Sony 72mm MC filter? I'm leaning towards the Sony brand for the continuity of having the same brand but not sure if both filters are exactly the same in design. I own a Sony 35mm F1.8 and a Sony 49mm MC filter andthe filter fits my lens like a glove.

A: Just to add to the previous comment to make it clearer: The are the same - just branding difference.

Q: 10. is this filter necessary for nighttime videography? And is it worth buying this filter for video or you can do all of the color adjustments in post where you could remove the light pollution and grade to a natural night color?

A: If are shooting on locations at night with light pollution it is best to use a filter like the NiSi 67mm Natural Night Filter. editing in post will not be as good.

[0.16 lb] very good! No excessive halo, soft and the subject remains high contrast! It's just that the express delivery to China is a bit slow, and I waited for a long time....

[0.16 lb] I got the 1/4 filter and it is just the right amount of diffusion without being noticeable. The Black Satin diffuses the image without sacrificing the contrast and milking the image out. So just the right amount to take the edge off of modern cinema cameras.

[0.16 lb] Black Satin is a great filter that beautifully performs as advertised. I have as well Tiffen Glimmerglass and Black Pro-Mist. Each has its purposes and consistently enhances the look I'm going for in my photography. Love them all.
