Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this item work with a condenser boom mic (provide phantom power)?

A: I don't think it provides phantom power but it does allow it to pass through? So send phantom power from the recorder (or TX if going wireless) and you should be good.

Q: 2. How many receivers can run off of one transmitter?

A: The answer is an unlimited number. Opposite the way we think about performance wireless systems (a 1:1 ratio of a single microphone being picked up by a single receiver), in personal monitoring what we are doing is broadcasting your desired monitoring mix to any number of people that need to to hear it. The scenario is similar to creating your own short-range radio station in which any number of individuals who want to listen in can do so by tuning in their own personal radio to the same station. Therefore, with PSM 300 (just as with any personal monitoring system) you can use an unlimited number of desired bodypack receivers with attached earphone to listen in to the same transmitter base unit.

Q: 3. I see that the transmitters come in 3 different frequency ranges. I would like to purchase 3 separate units. Is it necessary to buy 3 different frequencies

A: You can use 3 systems in the same frequency band without worrying about interference between them.

Q: 4. Hi just wondering why the rolls pm355 is priced the same as the pm55 as the 355 is 3 channel does the 55p have any benefits over the 355

A: The Rolls PM55 Personal Monitor Amp is discontinued and no longer for sale. The PM55 did not perform any better than the current Rolls offerings.

Q: 5. I have been told that the Shure PSM 300 Twin-Pack is capable of being used as a wireless speaker system like the SENNHEISER Wireless Speaker System 5 which consists of 1 Transmitter and 2 Receivers. Please let me know if that is doable. I have always wondered if it will damage the speakers or not thanks?

A: Yes, essentially you could use the PSM 300 Twin-Pack as a Wireless Speaker System. They are NOT meant for this purpose, but if the proper cabling is used, proper gain staging, and you have proper line of sight this should cause no harm to the speakers.

Q: 6. Can you use a sharkfin antenna to increase the range of the transmitter if you needed a distance further than 300ft?

A: Adding a PA805SWB antenna will achieve abut 300', line of sight. It is possible, in ideal conditions to achieve over 300'. To insure 300+ feet, the PSM 900 offers higher power transmitter. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1442222-REG/shure_p9trap425cl_g6_psm900_personal_monitor_system_rackmount.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/584718-REG/Shure_PA805SWB_PA805SWB_Directional_Antenna_for.html/specs

Q: 7. Can multiple receivers be used simultaneously to get the same signal?

A: Yes. An unlimited number of bodypack receivers can tune in to the transmission of one transmitter provided all units are of the same frequency band.

Q: 8. Is the Shure P3T transmitter included? It's not listed in In The Box

A: Yes, the P3T is included. Its omission from the In the box list is an error on the listing.

Q: 9. I know these have a 3.5 mm jack but has anyone had any experience with using these for making wireless PA systems with speakers?

A: The Shure PSM 900 Wireless Personal Monitor System with SE425-CL Earphones would not be recommended for use with speakers, as the beltpack's output impedance is intended for connection to headphones, not a standard line input. A system like B&H # ALSTLTHMK2X would be recommended instead.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with the RF Venue COMBINE8 system?

A: Yes, the Shure PA805SWB Directional Antenna can be used with the RF Venue COMBINE8 8-Channel IEM Transmitter Combiner.

[27.6 oz (783 g)] Very impressive product, good quality best I have used since I started taking recording seriously. I use the psm to monitor my xr12 mixer and it works great. I am pleased with the simplicity of the body pack. Mine malfunctioned on me first week but the warranty should take care of that. I record and stream concerts from my apartment using the psm. Routing instrumental audio and vocal via seperate channels to the psm, I can
use the p3ra body pack’s mixmode to split the signals in the in ears. This means I can record pretty much zero latency vocal takes when writing music, and do it wirelessly.
I have to say a big reason I wanted to go with this product over the other cheaper models available on the market is the psm300 has a reputation for top notch sound quality, which is the big issue I’ve had with most wireless IEMs. The audio from the in ears nearly rivals my studio headphones save for the deep bass area.
