The TP-Link TL-SG2210P 8-Port PoE Smart Switchfrom TP-Link TL-SG2210P 8-Port PoE Smart Switchis designed for small and medium business networks that require high connectivity, functionality, and performance. This switch can be configured to meet multiple needs and provides you with 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports that support network traffic at speeds up to 1000 Mbps. Also supported is 802.3af-compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE) up to 53W. PoE passes electrical power along with data on Ethernet cabling, allowing a single cable to provide a data connection and electrical power to devices such as wireless access points or IP cameras.

This 8-port switch includes 2 combo SFP (small form-factor pluggable) slots. This expands the flexibility of your network, as these slots support SONET, Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and other communications standards. It also features an 8K MAC Address Table, which allows you to store a large number of MAC addresses.

Also provided are security features, such as Storm Control, which protects against Broadcast, Multicast, and Unknown-unicast Storm. Network traffic is managed with Quality of Service to help ensure a smooth and even network flow. Setup is simplified with user-friendly web management interfaces, including CLI, SNMP, and RMON. This TP-Link switch operates at 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz and includes a power adapter, resource CD, and rubber feet.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. So if I upgrade to a mesh wifi router which has only one ethernet in-port than my old non-mesh wifi router, is this the right device to, in effect, add more ethernet-in ports to the mesh router? Is there a performance hit using this?

A: Yes, the TP-Link TL-SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Unmanaged Switch is exactly what one would use in the case you described, at no detriment to performance.

Q: 2. Can this switch be adopted/managed in Omada?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG2210P 8-Port Gigabit PoE Smart Switch with 2 SFP Slots is compatible with Omada control. See: https://www.tp-link.com/us/omada_compatibility_list/

Q: 3. What is in the box ??

A: TP-Link TL-SG1016DE 16-Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch box has Power Cord, Resource CD, Rubber Feet, Rackmount Kit, Limited 5-Year Warranty.

Q: 4. TP-Link has different hardware versions for the same model. Can you confirm if this one is V1, V2, or V2.6?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG105PE 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Unmanaged Switch (BH #TPTLSG105PE • MFR #TL-SG105PE) is currently version 2.6.

Q: 5. Is the TP-Link TL-SG1024DE 24-Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch a POE switch?

A: Unfortunately no. It would be a challenge to find a 24 port POE switch at this price point. If your need is only a few ports, you could supplement this with a small switch that provides a few POE ports (i.e. 8 port switch with 4 POE ports), or utilize POE injectors.

Q: 6. The power budget says 384W with each port able to provide 30W. Does this mean the power budget only supports 12.8 devices or does it support all 48 ports at 8W each? My devices pull a max of 6.5W each.

A: The TP-Link TL-SG3428XMP JetStream 24-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch with SFP+ budget of 384w is total draw. Any one port can handle up to 30w. You can use all the ports at a lower amount as long as you do not exceed the total of 384w.

Q: 7. What is hardware revision of this switch?

A: We are unable to verify which hardware version a switch has. As we may have mixed inventory. And they are not sorted by version numbers.

Q: 8. Hi, the SFP+ ports are described as uplink. Are they limited to communication with the upstream switch or can they be used like "regular" ports i.e. to connect a 10GB NAS such as BH #QNTSH977XU32 ?

A: You could potentially use the SFP+ ports for other uses but the uplink port would be for an upstream switch or to the router.

Q: 9. What version of the hardware are you selling? TP-Link's website notes several versions, V3.0 and V3.20.

A: We currently do not have an exact version number. We have a mix of V3, V4 and V5 of the TP-Link TL-SG2210P 8-Port Gigabit PoE Smart Switch with 2 SFP Slots depending on the chipset.

Q: 10. What is the hardware revision of this switch?

A: I'm very sorry but the revision is not something the manufacturer tells us before they ship them to us. If they had different part numbers, it would be easy to tell but since they don't, we cannot guarantee which revision is inside the box. Sorry for the inconvenience.

[14.9 Mpps] This switch is just the right size and does what we need, works great. Plug and Play just like it says and the price was right.

B&H did a great job from the website to the price of the switch, to the very fast delivery. Will use them again for sure.

[20 Gb/s ] The size of this device is really small. So it fit great into my IP65 enclosure. I used it to interface four POE GiGe cameras to my fanless PC.

[20 Gb/s ] I'm adding PoE IP cameras from the soffits of my garage and needed an easy way to power 4 of them without having to pull 4 cables up through a hard to pull chase way. Added this in the attic where there's a single outlet and - instantly all 4 cameras have power. Space is non-insulated so this has performed fine at -20F outside so far - will see how it does in the summer heat - but so far very happy with the performance and the price point.
Connects to a 5 port TP-Link Omada switch inside that tags all traffic with the video camera VLAN and works great!

[8K] I wanted to set up some surveillance cameras that required PoE, and this switch required little technical knowledge and worked right away!

[9,216 Bytes] I used four of these to create a distributed network in an office suite for VoIP telephones and data connectivity. Having the SFP slots allowed for a fiber backbone leaving all the copper ports available. Be cautioned, though, that they come with a default IP address that you should change so as not to have any conflicts.

[4] Plugged it into the wall. Connected my internet devices. It works!!

[20 Gb/s ] I have a bunch of POE equipment in a location that is about an hour away and occasionally a glitch occurs which requires a power down reboot. With my former un-managed switches I'd have to make the trek over to do a physical reboot. Now after using the managed switches for about 8 weeks I can do it from pretty much anywhere. Makes life much easier and all for a pretty modest price. I'll definitely pick up a couple more of these.

[4] Compact but sturdily built. The included documentation from TP-Link was short but satisfactory and should be consulted to make sure you are using the correct ports. This device seems well suited to SOHO uses if you're distributing signal from a router that has limited ethernet ports itself, and you want to power at least some peripheral devices like SIP phones with POE.

[8K] My existing switch was becoming a bottleneck as we had more devices supporting Gb ethernet and starting to transfer large files. We pulled that out of our rack and dropped this one in and had nice fast transfers in a matter of minutes. Ou building cable plant was Cat5 but it still managed to get Gb speeds between network segments. Sometime we'll start adding some IP phones so I opted for the slightly more expensive PoE model as a future-proofing method, but haven't really tested that out.
