Once a Sigma Art, Contemporary, or Sports line lens is connected, you can use the Sigma Optimization Pro software to configure focus settings and update lens firmware.

For all lines of lenses, there are four categories for prime lenses and 16 categories (four options for focal length, four options for shooting distance) for zoom lenses available. These categories allow you to set certain focusing settings to better suit your personal shooting style.

If using a Sports line lens, additional lens configurations are available: three different AF speed modes to modify how quickly the lens changes focus; the ability to constrain focus distances within a specific range to suit your personal shooting habits; and three Optical Stabilizer modes to suit the manner in which you are shooting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Sigma 30mms f1.4 Art lens fit to Nikon n5600, cannot auto focus. Pls advise. Tq

A: You can ask Nikon or sigma lens company sigma should be able to help you. Even Nikon USA should be able to tell for sure what you really need to know for sure. I don't have one so I would really check with one or the other for sure. Sorry.

Q: 2. Can this be used with the Sigma 24 mm 1.4?

A: Yes, it's compatible with Sigma 24mm f1.4 Art.

Q: 3. Does this work for 24-105mm f4?

A: Yes, it does.

Q: 4. Could this help with my Sigma a mount 120-400mm? Noticed skmeissues with focussing when I shot a professional soccer match this weekend. I have it adapted to my A7RII (bought used and adapted cause of the affordability)

A: The Sigma USB Dock for Sony A-Mount Lenses will only work with Sigma Global Vision lenses. These are the Art, Sports or Contemporary lenses. Not with the Sigma 120mm-400mm lens released in 2008.

Q: 5. I'm trying to decide between the Sigma 150-600mm and the Tamron 150-600mm. Why does the Sigma lens seem to need a software update and focus recal straight out of the box?

A: Both lenses are great lenses, but the Sigma, with the dock, allows you to make custom settings to the lenses for certain conditions, plus any updates for the lense. A simple for instance is, say with your camera when you put the long Sigma lense on, your exposure is too light or too dark. Instead of making exposure changes everytimr you use the lense, you can put it on the dock and program it to shoot dark or light. You never have to fool, with the camera exposure setting again

Q: 6. Does the Sigma USB Dock work on the older Sigma 120-300 2.8 zoom lenses or just the newer lenses?

A: This dock is only compatible with the Sigma Art, Contemporary, and Sports line lenses featuring a Nikon F lens mount. It is not compatible with the older Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 lens (Sigma model # 136101).

Q: 7. Is this for the 150-600 Contemporary?

A: Yes, its compatible.

Q: 8. Can this be used with Sigma DC 17-50 2.8 EX HSM?

A: Sorry, no.

Q: 9. Does it make sense to buy to upgrade firmware Sigma 18-35/1.8 for Sony? Or there was no update for this lens? I have it not work correctly through the LA-EA3 with A6300.

A: I don't think there is a firmware update for the Sony mount version of the 18-35mm f/1.8.However, you almost for sure need the dock to adjust your autofocus, because I have never heard of the 18-35 having perfect autofocus on a Sony camera yet. I had to do a lot of adjusting to get my focus correct. As for it not working with the la-ea3 and the a6300, I don't know if there is a fix for that.Good luck.

Q: 10. Is any kind of calibration aid (i.e., test chart) needed with this, or does the dock and software do it all?

A: Robert, you don't need a test chart, but I would recommend a ruler or yard stick propped up at an angle to the vertical of about 30-45 degrees with the low point of the stick closest to you and it pointing away from you. Put a rod of some kind in the ground pointing straight up and next to some point in the middle of the yard stick. That will be the point you focus on. Position your camera the distance away you want to check the calibration (the Sigma software gives you 4 distances to calibrate). Take the picture focusing on the vertical rod. Open the image full size and look at the marks on the ruler. If the tick directly next to the rod you set up is in focus, it is fine for that distance. If it is sharper further on or further in, then use the software to adjust the focus a little and try again. Do a search for Sigma Brand Video for a good primer on how to use the software (it does require user input). If you do buy it hook everything up immediately and make sure it works. Mine does not recognize the lens (150-600 contemporary). I've gotten a replacement dock and it is still not working several weeks after getting the lens and dock.

[0.45 lb] This is a great way to keep your camera lenses updated also you don't have to worry about compatibility issues with future camera bodies. The USB dock with the optimization pro software is very easy to download to a pc from the Sigma website to calibrate the lens quickly. Depending on the lens you use optimization is your choice. This is one of the reasons I chose to go with Sigma lenses. This will make buying a camera lens from another manufacturer extremely difficult.

[0.45 lb] The dock came with the Sigma 24-105mm lens I bought as a packaged deal. My copy was a bit off at focusing at around 70mm and 105mm. The focus plane falls short of the target by a large margin. This is when the dock comes in real handy. After some adjustments (by trial and error), now my lens is tack sharp at these two focus lengths.

[0.45 lb] I shoot with a Sony Alpha 65 that does not have a microadjustment focus feature, so I was very glad to be able to get this to use with my Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Dc Hsm Art Lens. This also allows for many more adjustments than an in camera adjustment would, it really makes a world of difference.

[0.45 lb] When I was just using micro adjustments, in camera. I found that things changed from close up to far . I didn't need it as much micro adjustments. At far as i needed close up. I picked up a Autofocus Calibration Aid. That when i found out what was going on. I was inputting micro adjustments ever time i want in for a close up . this got old fast . the USB Dock has Fixed this . i can hit focus ever time at F1.4 . close up through out the 4 zones . The software program is easy to use. Install was simple . I don't like the fact. It look's to see if the firmware. Is up to date, ever time you dock the lens .It would be nice if had a setting look only once a day .My 35 mm has 4 focus zone's to edit. Take picture put on dock wait for the firmware is up to date.edit zone take picture wait for firmware is up to date. now edit. I think you get the point now moveing on . in the software. Editing the zone's. selecting the zone... Ya i scrached my head a little on that part . To make it simple Click the 0 under the red line , in the zone . You want to edit.. very simple once you know were to click ! Autofocus Calibration Aid, you will need this .To see what your doing. So the question's Dose it work ? YES it dose ! Is it worth the money ? YES it is ! Is it easy to use ?once you know were to click . YES it is . Any thing you would change ? Yes looking to see if the lens is up to date ! Can we say annoying ? YES WE CAN!

[0.45 lb] You will need this if your Sigma lenses need adjustments. My a-mount Sigma 24-105mm was a bit front-focus out of box at 70mm and 105mm so I had to use it to make adjustments. The good thing was it came with the lens for free, part of the reason I grabbed deal as soon as it appeared.
