The instructions indicate to keep them low center of gravity, however the center pole is touching the floor when the legs are extended so if the floor is not fully flat it would not be stable... A: Sounds like you didnt fully extend the legs. I have two of these system and have not yet run into this issue. As a note about flat floors. These do not have leveling legs so an uneven surfaces are tough to work with
