The Chimera Video Pro Plus Softbox 12x16" Silveris designed for use with a hotlight but can be used with flash as well. With fabric intended for the heat of a continuous light, the XX-Small Video Pro Plus 1 with silver interior is ideal for work in small spaces when minimal softening of your light is desired. Because of its very small size and silver interior, light quality will be more spectral with a faster gradation from highlight to shadow areas. The 12x16" size is very portable and lightweight. It can be taken on location easily.

The Plus designation of this softbox means the 1-stop front face of the softbox is removable and can be swapped out for the included 1/2 and 1/4 grid cloth front-face diffusion panels for more light transmission and a more crisp result.

This box provides the most spectral quality of light. Shadows will be denser with a faster gradation from highlight to shadow. Image will appear sharp and more contrasty than when using a white-interior soft box.

Optional fabric grids are available to add more control to the direction and spread of the light.

Required speed rings are available separately for most strobes and hotlights.

A: You are correct; as the Pprofoto D1 has its own built-in reflector, it also would not be recommended for use with the Chimera Shallow Super Pro Plus Softbox, Silver - Large.

A: They make two speedings that will hold a comet flash but the\is one is by far the best due to the size of the softbox and the amount of tension on the poles.

It is a special order item that we do not keep in our inventory, so we do not order the speedring until we receive an order from a customer.

[Silver] This is the Rolls Royce of Softboxes. After a few weeks of talking myself into it I finally broke down and purchased one, as soon as I assembled it I knew it wasn't going back! It's super light weight yet I can tell from one review that I read before purchasing of a guy saying that he had his Chimera for decades that it was very much possible. The look that it gives is the one from the movies and if you put the right light in it and put it at the proper distance from your subject it's as beautiful as a book light. I will be getting 2 more. 5

[Silver] Our old Chimera softbox had seen better days. After it started smoking because a sagging portion came into direct contact with the bulb, well, we decided to buy a new one. The softbox arrived quickly and in perfect condition. We noticed that our lighting situation is much improved, primarily because our old softbox was dingy with a decade of use. It's like someone said, Let there be light! We are thrilled with the website, the delivery time, and the quality of the new softbox. 5

[Silver] We've owned one Video Pro Plus 1 Softbox since 2000, and it's in just as good shape today as the day we opened the box. We use it regularly, and have used it countless times since we bought our first one. In order to light more evenly, we decided a second one would be more cost effective than switching to completely LED or flourescent fixtures for the time being. It's really a great product that stows away well. Obviously, it stands up well to regular use. 5

[Yes] Day after day I blast these babies with my lowel tota lights up to 800 watts. No sign of any wear yet. Although I did get one which needed to be returned due to a bad seam where the rod inserts. ....Incidentally, the photoflex speed ring for lowel tota needs modification to insert the power cord. Fine if you have a workshop - useless otherwise.But this strip soft box is just great for a hair light, headshot or whatever! 5

[Yes, Removable] I use this light back in conjunction with some other Chimeras for Cinematography as well as Photography so I have speed rings for my Canon 580ex flash, studio flash and also for Arri cine lighting. Chimeras give a wonderful soft light that wraps beautifully around your subject. They come with an internal diffuser that makes it possible to use this with something as small as a standard camera flash or as big as a 1K Arri so they are very adaptable. The strip banks make it possible to have controlled amounts of soft light on your subject which means you can isolate them from your background really nicely. Really good for interview settings, portraits or fashion photography and super portable. I have chimeras that are 6 - 8 years old used almost every day and still perfectly good so this product will last you for a good 10 years if you look after it. Happy shooting! 5
