Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you turn the sub's volume down and still hear your monitors when connected? Essentially can you bypass the sub when powered on, for just the monitors?

A: Your stereo pair will operate independently of the sub and will not be affected by its volume level. The sub may be bypassed completely as well.

Q: 2. Can I mount this on a speaker stand?

A: Yes the Mackie Thump can mount on any pole style speaker stand.

Q: 3. Can this be used with HS80M monitors? I've noticed that this subwoofer has a very different frequency response curve to the now discontinued HS10W subwoofer that was designed for the HS80M monitors.

A: Contacted Yamaha and they assure me that it can be used with HS80M monitors. Frequency response is different as the HS8S can go as low as 22hz (HS10W was 30hz). You just need to adjust the cross over frequency until it best complements the HS80M monitors.

Q: 4. I need change these speakers to DXR15. Let me return these 2 speakers ? (DBR15)

A: These speakers can be returned within 30 days of purchase.

Q: 5. does it works with 110 and 220v? or there are different units?

A: Yes, it works with a variety of line voltages. From the Yamaha web site for the dbr-10:100 V, 100-120V, 220-240 V, 110/127/220V (Brazil), 50/60Hz

Q: 6. What is the rms

A: The Yamaha DZR15 2000W 2-Way 15" Powered Loudspeaker is 950 W RMS.

Q: 7. Does this create a wide 360-degree sound pattern or a narrow sonic beam like some desktop speakers?

A: The Yamaha MSP3A Powered Speaker is a 2-way speaker, so it wouldn't output a 360-degree sound pattern.

Q: 8. can you link 2 of these speakers wirelessly?

A: No. To be able to link 2 Mackie Thump Go speakers together wirelessly you would need a wireless system like B&H # ALSTEALTHWRK.

Q: 9. How many hours does the battery last?

A: Mackie claims 12 hours,

Q: 10. Is this item sold just a single speaker, or is it 2 speakers?

A: The Yamaha DBR15 is sold as a single unit.

[129 dB SPL] Finally got to use these at a gig just this weekend after purchasing them last summer. I've used them a bit before but really never have had a chance to really air them out and see what they can do.

Wow.

I had these outside up against a wall on a patio outdoors and had to provide audio for a wedding, both the ceremony and the reception. The ceremony itself was about 100 yards from the speakers. No problems at all, these handled that job with ease.

I haven't invested in a subwoofer yet, and with all honesty I wouldn't get the Yamaha subs to go with this when I do (JTR Captivator 218PRO is 3dB down at 27hz for anyone reading this) but it really didn't matter at all. Once it was time to get down and boogie, these speakers brought it with crystal clarity. I still had a ways to go before distortion and we were just rocking the whole mountain valley in Lincoln, MT.

Truly awesome speakers. No distortion at all at insane volume levels with some heavy dance music. Great bass and the mids/highs are crisp and clear. I can't recommend these enough nor the service I received here at BHPhoto. Top quality company and products!

[30.75 lb] I had experience with using the 12 and 15 inch version of these speakers earlier this year with a band I was playing in, and when the need arose for my jazz duo to play an outdoor concert, I got a pair of these. I auditioned them at home for a week, and found the sound to be expansive, clear, and full-range. I used them for the first time this past weekend at an outdoor fund-raiser concert, and they performed magnificently. For once, vocals and my partner's trumpet were clear and cut through the mix. I ported my piano and my backing tracks thru it as well, and everything sounded balanced and clean. This allowed us to use my amp/powered speaker as a monitor, so we had the best of both worlds here. I cannot recommend these speakers enough. They are extremely lightweight given their quality, which is a must for me, and while they were not cheap, they are a great value, costing less than comparable speakers of other, famous brands. The other speakers I considered were heavier and just as expensive, and I doubt they would have sounded any better. And I am considering getting a third one of these to use as a floor wedge monitor for larger venues and larger bands. I'm happy with these and if you need a larger-sized speaker, the 12 and 15 inch variety are also a best bet.

[1x Top] I currently own a set of Mackie SRM 350 V3's, and I'm very happy with them. I'm a dj and I'm trying to downsize my system and make it more compact, but loud and not compromise the sound. So I've been using my Mackie's with my Yamaha DXS12 MKII sub, and it works great, but the spl's on the Mackie's we're insufficient for some of my larger venues. I decided to go with the DBR10's cause I've noticed the specs for the frequency response were close enough, but what caught my attention was the 129db max spl! So I bought a pair, great job on shipping time B&H, and once I hooked them up and began to crank them, I was blown away by the sound quality, but especially how loud and transparent they sounded! Very pristine and accurate sound like my RCF's, but not at RCF prices, lol! I've been djing 40 years and I've been thru many brands of speakers, these Yamaha DBR10's are now my favorite! Compact, loud, but very clear! They can be used without a sub for small venues and rock them! With my Yamaha sub, forget about it! They are a perfect match, and they all fit in my trunk! I highly recommend them!

[30.75 lb] I purchased a second BR-10 to complete a PA system I use with a Fender guitar/Yamaha modeling amp combo. I get the sound I like and then let it rip. Clean, powerful and impressively responsive across the entire frequency range. Way more than enough for 1500 sq ft of audience (~200 people). Can switch to pure PA use without problems and nobody is going to gripe about this rig. Wish I had this setup when I started doing gigs.

[Active 2-Way] I bought a pair of these to build a lightweight, yet powerful stereo keyboard amplification rig for my stage setup. They work perfectly for this with plenty of volume and clarity. I use a Yamaha CP88 Stage Piano and a Hammond XK1-C plugged in to an Alesis Multimix 8 channel mixer. The onboard Leslie effect on my Hammond unit sounds amazing with this setup. B&H Photo and Video delivered these units precisely when promised. Could not be happier! These speakers are a splendid value.

[1x Top] I bought a pair of the 10" speakers to provide sound in my basement for DJ practice mixes and to make my Peloton bike experience rock. It does that very well using only a fraction of its full power. I connected everything through a Yamaha MG10xu mixer.

I have not taken the speakers outside yet, but they should power a backyard party and make the neighbors stand up and notice.

The speakers are rugged, lightweight for the sound they produce, and priced well. You can certainly get better and louder sound, but you will pay at least double.

[Plastic] Bought this to compliment my Yamaha DGX-650 keyboard, and it works exactly as designed. Plugged it in to my keyboard headphone jack and adjusted the volume - viola ! I will someday upgrade to a larger unit when performing, but for now this meets my needs perfectly for practice - not too large, not too small, just enough power to fill a large room with legendary Yamaha sound. I may even add another one just because.... A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. This unit rocks !

[1x Top] Great full range sound. It has more bass than I expected. These will now by my main speakers for events.
